  • David Ortiz, Philly fan? On Friday, before the Padres/Phillies game, the former Red Sox slugger and TV personality was seen wearing a Reggie White Eagles jersey and dancing with the Phanatic.
  • Actually, there was quite a bit of interaction with the Phanatic Friday night. (From MichaelMPH)
  • One of the beautiful things about MLB’s Arizona Fall League is not just seeing so many great prospects, but also the beauty of seeing players wear the uniforms of their respective team. Just as it should be in the ASG! :cough cough:” observes Steve Sher.
  • While it’s not great, if you’ve ever wanted to colorize black and white MLB photos, here’s a program. (From Johnny). Obviously it’s not just for MLB photos, but the example was of Babe Ruth, so that’s why it’s in the MLB section.
  • The John Hancock sign in CF at Fenway Park has been removed, their 30 year “partnership” is over. (From our own Anthony Emerson)
  • The weather for Sunday on the East Coast if iffy, at best, so both the Phillies/Padres and Yankees/Astros could be rained out. But did you know at one time there was a proposal to put a retractable roof on Yankee Stadium? (From Texas Trev)

  • “Maybe this is nitpicking (but isn’t that what Uni Watch is all about), but it seems that the Big 10 commercial uses a depiction of Old Yankee Stadium instead of New Yankee Stadium. You can look at the photos and see which one it looks more similar to,” writes Matthew Houk.

  • “The Fremantle Dockers of Australian rules football had arguably one of the better uniforms in all of sports,” says Andrew Schmidt. “Not anymore and all because of their new uniform advertiser. Has any advertisement ever ruined a uniform more? I don’t think I’ve seen one that comes close.”
  • Apparently Virginia now has its own “branded” beer? Max Weintraub says “I’d never seen this before. But Starr Hill comes from Charlottesville. VA (where UVa is), so it shouldn’t be a surprise.” Wonder what our own Jamie Rathjen thinks about this.
  • The new Kūlanihākoʻi High School on Maui has chosen Manta Rays as its team name and mascot and silver and black as its school colors. (From Kary Klismet)

I’m aware Wahoowa Pale Ale is a thing (you can get it at football games), but I don’t have an opinion on it.

And a Brian Dawkins before Game 5. He could win mayor of Philadelphia right now unless Jason Kelsey or Bryce Harper ran.

Manta Rays and Stingrays (along with Pelicans and others) were in the mix, but someone had anticipated this, and got copyrights dibs before the selection process. The team and MLB were not interested in paying.

(Sidebar: when the internet first started, mlb.com led you to a New York law firm. Eventually MLB must have paid for the domain)

Vancouver chose the best possible time to announce a jersey turd. The team is so bad that everyone is so focused on being mad about that so we don’t have time to rage about the TD patch. Seriously tho, sell the team

Switch pitcher Cijntje must be from the Dutch Antilles with that surname. All the power in the world to him, as a Dutch baseball fan I am already mighty proud of him. And his glove looks like a thumbs on both sides special.

Wearing New Balance warmups is a common occurrence at Wrexham’s level due to a league-wide sponsorship. You’ll often see coaches wearing NB-branded gear on the sidelines as well, despite clubs having other partners.

When colorizing black & white photos of MLB, I tried one online software and it’s really slick!!It’s called VanceAI Photo Colorizer. Personally I would give vote for this cause it’s based on AI. If you want to have a look, you may try through: link
