NFL
- As Paul noted yesterday, the Buffalo Bills will wear a “3” Patch for injured player Damar Hamlin. Other nods to Hamlin as he continues to recover from his medical emergency: the Commanders have outlined the “3” in their 30-yard-line marker in black. The Texans made the same gesture on their practice field. Bills legend Andre Reed customized his own Super Bowl XXV jersey with masking tape in support of Hamlin. (From multiple readers)
College
- Here’s South Dakota State’s unis for the FCS title game. “[T]he helmets were provided by former players. The Jackrabbits Former Players Association provided the alternate [white] helmet (which is weird to call it an alternate because they’re worn it more than their primary blue) and that’s reflected on the bumper where it says JFPA,” writes Steven White.
- Here’s a history of Georgia’s use of the bulldog as its mascot. (From Kary Klismet)
CFL
- In 1971, the Montreal Alouettes wore Grey Cup Champions patches for the entire season. That’s something we saw some MLB teams do at the beginning of the last decade, and something we see many NFL teams do for Opening Night after a title. This is, however, uncommon in the CFL. Hockey
NHL
- Apparently, this year’s All-Star game unis will be Reverse Retro-inspired designs. (From Brandon Weir)
- The Penguins are wearing helmet decals in honor of D Kris Letang’s father, who passed away recently. (From Kary Klismet)
- Someone is flying around Vancouver (or paying someone to fly around Vancouver) with a banner reading “Free The Skate,” calling for the team to return to their black “flying skate” jerseys of the 1990s. (From Wade Heidt)
Basketball
NBA
- Apparently the Hornets’ uni advertiser will be out at the end of the season. (From @throw210)
College
- Sleeved basketball jerseys seemed to have died out in the middle of the last decade, but Evansville men are bringing them back for today’s game. (From Bob Hille)
- UNC men are going with some very nice throwbacks today. (From James Gilbert)
Soccer
International
- Japan: New kits for first division side Shimizu S-Pulse. Notably, the club has gotten rid of all of their “box sponsors”, or advertisers who required their logo to appear on a certain-colored background on the kit, forcing the team to apply awkward colored boxes around the kit. (From Jeremy Brahm)
- Japan: New kits for FC Tokyo. (From Ed Zelaski and Jeremy Brahm)
- England: Arsenal are bringing back their “No More Red” anti-knife crime kit for Monday’s FA Cup match against Oxford United. The club debuted the campaign last year. (From Ed Zelaski)
- England: A Wolverhampton player’s club crest was applied upside down for the club’s most recent match. (From Jeremy Brahm)
Auto Racing
- Red Bull Racing will have Castore provide teamwear next season, replacing a longstanding deal with Puma.
Cycling
- A Sikh mother has developed a cycling helmet for her sons that accommodates their traditional topknots. (From Kary Klismet)
Rugby
- Rugby union association logos in North America tend to be a bit on the cartoony side. (From Anthony Wilkens)
Grab Bag
- British Airways employees will have new uniforms designed by fashion designer Ozwald Boateng. (From multiple readers)
- Hinkley High School in Aurora, Colo., has changed its team name from “Thunderbirds” to “Thunder” after it was determined that a state law passed in 2021 prohibiting Native American-themed mascots applied to their previous name. (From Kary Klismet)
- Commonwealth countries are generally more into the pomp-and-circumstance of governing than the US is, so as an American it’s fascinating to see the outfits speakers of various Commonwealth parliaments wear. (From @Minor_Leaguer)

I think you mashed up Andrew Reed and Cris Carter. That would be one hell of a receiver.
*Andre Reed
Fixed
That’s Bills legend Andre Reed, not Andre Carter.
The Flying Skate is a fan favo(u)rite?
There should be more calls for a return of the V’s (in either their original color scheme or adapted to the current blue/green).
Here is the article. Does not look like it is linked in the Ticker.

The Commander’s 3 outline appears to be navy blue, not black
Yeah, I heard on NFL Radio that the league would allow teams to outline the 3s in either blue or red.
Black would be…well, the wrong choice for someone who survived (and hopefully thrives).
It is blue. The Eagles did the same thing at the Linc.
I was thinking of taking the white hoodie I got for Vilkmas (thanks again, Skott Schoonover!) and making it into a Bills amalgam of John Leypoldt and Damar Hamlin.
Leypoldt had a heart attack and died at 40, and Hamlin had his cardiac event as well. Might be a good heart health awareness thing.
Guess Ford Motor Co. won’t be resurrecting that nameplate anytime soon. -C.
