- Holy Cross’s women’s team supported the mental health charity Morgan’s Message on Friday by wearing helmet decals of the charity logo and using blue tape.
- Division III Skidmore’s men’s team wore throwbacks for an alumni weekend game, with each player’s NOB turned into the name and graduating year of a program alumnus. (From Kary Klismet)

- The Southern Professional Hockey League’s Quad City Storm let fans paint the names of cancer patients or survivors on the ice this weekend. They also wore “Hockey Fights Cancer” jerseys on Saturday. The Storm were then involved in a bizarre incident yesterday where their opponents, the Vermilion County Bobcats, didn’t show up for their own home game. (From Adam Santic)
- The AHL’s Ontario Reign wore “Pink in the Rink” jerseys on Saturday that looks like they featured the logo from their time in the ECHL. (From Wade Heidt)

- The PHF’s Boston Pride revealed a third jersey on Saturday.
- The PHF’s Toronto Six wore a pride uniform on Saturday, although it involved just the socks and a football-style helmet stripe.
- The PHF’s Montréal Force are wearing Indigenous-designed jerseys also bringing attention to missing and murdered Indigenous women this weekend. Saturday’s game was postponed to today because the opponent Minnesota Whitecaps couldn’t travel on Saturday.
Basketball
College
- Women’s teams wearing pink or pink accents yesterday included both Iowa and Penn State, both Maryland and Ohio State, Miami (Fla.), and Pitt.
- NC State’s men’s team wore the same Honoring Black Excellence uniforms on Saturday that the women’s team did last week. (From Rex Henry)

International
- England: Some men’s and women’s teams — not just their captains, but also not everyone on a team — wore green armbands this weekend for the Green Football Weekend sustainability promotion, although it wasn’t that widespread. One UK broadcaster, BT Sport, used green microphones for its coverage. Oddly, Liverpool said its men’s team would wear the armbands, but I then didn’t see anybody actually doing so. It didn’t feel like there was much commitment to the cause, unlike other promotions such as the pride event Rainbow Laces or Scotland’s Show Racism the Red Card which have pretty universal participation.
- England: Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane recently reached 300 Premier League appearances and received a framed No. 300 shirt signed by the men’s team. He might be in for another one soon after breaking Tottenham’s goalscoring record yesterday.
- Japan: New shirts for the men’s J2 League’s Fagiano Okayama. (From Kary Klismet)
- Paraguay: New shirts for Club Guaraní of the men’s and women’s top tiers. (From Kary Klismet)
- Scotland: Hibernian left-back Lewis Stevenson got a No. 450 shirt for reaching the men’s team’s record number of league appearances on Saturday. Unusually for that type of gesture, he was given Hibs’s second shirt since that’s what they wore on Saturday.
- Scotland: February was designated the “month of action” for Football v. Homophobia, an initiative for inclusivity for LGBTQ+ people in Scottish soccer. Ayr United’s women’s team wore rainbow shoelaces while men’s captain Sean McGinty (at left) wore a rainbow armband on Friday.
Auto Racing
- NASCAR Cup driver Ryan Blaney’s helmet for yesterday’s Clash at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum was apparently a throwback to something, but it doesn’t look familiar. (From Kary Klismet)
- “NHRA Pro Stock cars are rarely seen without their bodies, and they look odd without them,” says David Firestone.
- New helmet and livery for IndyCar Series driver Rinus VeeKay — if you’ve ever wondered, he shortens his last name from “van Kalmthout.” (From Kary Klismet)

Rugby
- Yesterday’s France/Italy men’s Six Nations match had several uni-related quirks, including Italy wearing NOBs that are still unusual in the sport but have been appearing experimentally, France putting players’ club names below their numbers, and France’s numbers being filled with other club names. Grab Bag
- Two Virginia high schools in Alleghany County and the independent city of Covington are merging and decided on their new combined colors, name, and logo. (From Tom Turner)

I hope things work out better in Alleghany than it did when rivals Groveton and Fort Hunt merged high schools in Fairfax County, Virginia, in the 80s. link
Unfortunately NOB is becoming the norm now in rugby. It’s been the norm at the domestic level for a few years now at most clubs, and England introduced NOB’s to their national side in the Autumn.
Interesting tidbit, while England’s domestic competition, Premiership Rugby allows NOB’s and it’s universally adopted, the Champions Cup (rugby equivalent to the UEFA Champions League) does not.
So i always notice my favorite club Harlequins shirts look much better in the Champions Cup.
Tony Clark’s explaination of the update to the MLBPA shield is way too long. “We modernized it” would have been plenty sufficient.
I’m surprised the update reduced the launch angle of the swing, given the way that hitting trends have gone.
Spring Training caps are out. They look same as last year except for ’23 side patch. Twins updated.
Don’t remember seeing it on here, but the Cavs wore their “The Land” jerseys last week (1/31 I think) and used the matching court. The court is maybe a bit much, transitioning between colors from one end to the other, but the jersey set looked great! I’d go so far as to say, beautiful!
I suppose Blaney’s helmet was just retro-looking, not a throwback to any one or anything in particular. I would have like to have seen the Joe Gibbs teams don LA Rams-both classic white and yellow horn versions, ‘60s Chargers …complete with appropriate number decal…and (gasp) Raiders-themed helmets. Maybe next year, since NASCAR is gonna need to kerp this ‘track’ on the schedule.
There wasn’t 1 USC-inspired/advertised scheme at the Coliseum Clash…what a missed opportunity.
