  • Jerseys from last week’s Field of Dreams game are being auctioned off. (Also from Phil)
  • The Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) is having its 50th annual convention in Baltimore this year and came up with a Camden Yards-themed logo for it. (From Andrew Cosentino)

  • NFL referee Scott Novak was working the joint Packers-Saints practice yesterday. He wore a cap with the initials CM on it in honor of Carl Madsen, an Air Force veteran and longtime NFL official. Masden died last season at 71. This cap is presumably an old one though since officials are wearing a new memorial patch for colleague Wayne Mackie this season. (From Jeff Ash)

    Re: NASCAR number.

I’m really surprised that the U.S. series hasn’t actually pushed the number BACK on the car like they have in the Mexico series. The number sometimes is on the rear quarter panel, on the windows behind the pillar (which the driver can’t see out of anyway), or not there at all.

Interesting about the Calgary Canucks. Unlike the NHL Canucks, the Calgary Canucks consistently wore blue and green (of varying shades) all the way since their inception in 1971. Including sticking with the classic “C” logo formed with hockey sticks and puck for a long period.

Was only a few seasons ago that they shifted to this new logo and changed shades to navy blue with lime green trim. So surprised about the recent change to red and yellow while retaining the Canucks team name.

Goes to show if your team is called the Canucks you will sometime in your history have a radical colour change.

The numbers on the side of NASCAR cars are not gone, just shifted forward. I was about to get all kind of upset until I read the article…

Yeah…the numbers are still there on the side, just not centered on the ‘door’, which is off-putting to say the least.
I won’t be at all shocked if they do eventually disappear completely.

San Francisco Giants wore red ribbons for Until There’s a Cure night last night. Ribbon has gotten smaller every year. Started in 1994 I believe.

Northwestern University has its own police department, which does not use Northwestern stripes (this photo is from 2017, but indications are that their design is still the same): link

Apparently there wasn’t any, or at least not any that made the ticker. It happens sometimes, especially when a sport isn’t in season.

It was! I’m so curious about the city edition leaks I’ve been seeing. Thanks for responding though guys

Wow. I glanced over that one! Lloyd wrote the intro, and I probably should have scrubbed that, once I saw there wasn’t anything listed in NBA. I was so worried about making sure all the links worked, I didn’t concentrate on his intro! My bad :(

To pick a nit, the Ticker item on the Giants says they are adding seven players to their Ring of Honor; it’s actually six players and one team official.

Teoscar Hernández’s footwear has been bothering me a lot lately. The iteration featured here has to be the worst he’s worn. It appears as though he’s trying to go for a retro look, but is sort of half-assing it. Gold stripes on the black shoes and fake stirrups just don’t cut it.

And on top of that, Jays players have been wearing blue shoes since their very first game in 1977, so it’s not even all that authentic.
