”¦ like, say, uniform numbers that don’t fall off of our jerseys. That’s Amare Stoudemire, whose numero uno pulled a disappearing act in the closing seconds of last night’s Knicks/Bobcats game and became a unique souvenir (here’s a little video clip). As you may recall, this isn’t the first time the league has had problems with its new mesh numbers.
I’ll be heading to Long Island this afternoon to spend Thanksgiving with my Mom and brother. Our family isn’t big, but at least we’ll be together. I know of at least one person reading this whose family won’t be so fortunate today (you know who you are, and I’ll be thinking of you). Wherever the holiday finds you today, I hope you’re surrounded by loved ones and that you’ll be rooting against the Cowboys — not necessarily in that order. — Paul
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Paul and all of the other “uniwatchers”. I second your thoughts. Let’s be thankful for the loved ones who are still with us and remember fondly those who have left us. And, obviously, I hope that the Cowboys (and Patriots for that matter) lose in a very humilating ways. Thank you for all you do with this site and your espn articles. You are a great writer.
Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.
Agreed on all of Paul’s comments — I’ll be passing him in the opposite direction on the LIE today as I’ll be spending a good portion of this day with my pop, who’s in MSK in the city. We had hoped he’d be released from the hospital so he could spend the day at home, but alas, it’s not to be. I’m thankful I’ll at least be able to have one last Thanksgiving with him, wherever it happens to be.
Peace.
Wishing you and your dad the best, Phil. Relish the time together.
All the best to you and your father, Phil. Here’s hoping that he might be home for another holiday in a month’s time.
Take care today, and all the best to the US Uni Watchers on their Turkey Day!
Happy Thanksgiving, Phil.
I am very thankful for Uniwatch.
Wherever you are, whomever you’re with… have fun.

Happy Thanksgiving to Paul, Phil and all the other “uni-watchers”.
I think I found a few books for Paul:

Happy Thanksgiving, guys. It’s probably already been discussed, but will the Lions and Patriots go color on color today? Both may wear their throwback unis, so we’d see red and blue.
That is the rumor I have heard. I hope so since the Patriots red unis will be the only thing that will make the Lions game watchable.
They just show Ford Field. The Patriots are in red and the Lions in the throwback blue.
Excellent. Now if we can just get teams to do this in normal uniforms instead of throwbacks.
/and Happy Turkey Day everyone.
I wish the Lions would wear throwbacks for the 60’s, that don’t have all the black or hite trim. And grey facemasks.
May all of us be thankful for the things we have, and those small victories that make the hard times bearable. As for whoever Paul mentioned in todays post, even though I am a cowboys fan, know that who and wherever you are that I as a uniwatch reader will be thinking of you too. No, I don’t know you, but we can all relate, and I hope that you make the best of this day.
To all of the guys reading this from from military bases around the world, thank you!!!
and to all you fellow uniwatch readers , members and non-members alike, have a wonderful day. And with the throwback jerseys that will be worn today, please share your love and obsession with your kids, or grandkids so they can understand the history behind some of the games classic uniforms.
Happy Turkey day (US)
Happy Thursday (rest of the world)
I didn’t know you were anti-cowboy! Great! Being a skins fan this is great news.
Happy Thanksgiving Paul, Phil, and all the readers out there in uniland. I’m certainly thankful for everything that everyone does to bring enjoyment to my day each and every day of the year! Be safe!
Here’s video of Stoudemire without his uni number (although it doesn’t show the point when it fell off):

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a great day with great food with your families.
(and damn, I love those Lions unis…)
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am a long time reader but since work restricts my internet access I can’t really participate in the comments. I am thankful for many things but one is the hard work and dedication that Paul and everyone in the comments put into the site every day. It’s a great read for me while unwinding after work and I always love the commentaries and observations from everyone.
Happy Thanksgiving, fellow uni-folk.
Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Go Dallas!
Throwback jerseys with a captain patch? Nice Detroit…
I think the black facemask looks worse than the captain patches.
Of course, the throwback uniform is a big downgrade from their regular uniform… and the captain patches are kinda dumb anyway… so… yeah. It’s the Lions.
Agreed…grey masks would be much better. It would also be interesting to see the Pats throwbacks worn with grey masks and black shoes, like they wore in the 60’s. But that’s more of a look for grass. White looks nice and clean on turf.
Nah. They’re throwing back to the no-facemask era, so every player should have a mask that matches his skin color.
Clear would work too
I liked the Lions’ throwbacks when they debuted in 1994… but back then, you had guys like Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, and Brett Perriman making them look particularly good. Those full-length blue socks look really nice, though.
At this point, I’d like to see them bring back the circa-1980 jersey, and retire the plain ones. Or, at least save the plain ones until they’ve had a winning season again.
The Lions uniforms today appeared to be the new stretch material. Some of the close ups the numbers looked off.
Happy Thanksgiving—GO COWBOYS.
Lions rocking no half whites. It looks so much better.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in Uni Watch Land.
And, as always, white meat’s for suckers.
On Calvin Johnson’s TD catch you can see his rear helmet bumper says SHUTT…
Happy Thanksgiving, and GO LIONS! (And M. Sullivan, I’ve always loved those Lions throwback unis too).
Happy Thanksgiving Uniwatchers! Memorable Thanksgiving Day, Nov.27 1986 when the Seahawks beat the Cowboys 31-14 at Texas Stadium.
Go Saints!

Who Dat!
Maybe the N.B.A. will fine Amare “for being out of uniform.” LOL
Nice unis from the Saints… Black pants with white jerseys can work well (Saints, Ravens, Oregon)
Personally, I thought they should’ve gone with the gold pants for this game, and maybe even gold numerals like the 1994 throwbacks. But, hey, they’re doing the job against the Cowboys so far…
I hate those black leotards! They need a gold stripe.
Happy Thanksgiving Uni Watch, and remember that it’s not about how juicy the turkey is, it’s about the people around you that are eating it =)
Hey PL. Thought u got it but ur just another jealous loser.
Please tell me this has something to do with the Cowboys. If so, you are officially the gazillionth reason why I hate the Cowboys. Congrats!
crickets
Better than rickets. You ever had those?
twit.
Kingbee,
Paul mentioned in the post that he was going to be spending the day with his mother and brother. For many people special occasions like that entail **not** engaging in their every-other-day activities, such as keeping up with comment strings on the internet… especially thrice within an hour and twenty-one minutes. Whatever your beef-du-jour is, it can wait.
Chaka Khan let me rock ya, let me rock ya Chaka Khan.
After seeing the Patriots-Lions tilt in color-on-color, I was hoping to see a trilogy of CoC games today. Imagine the Saints wearing gold unis versus the ‘boys in blue and the nightcap could have been Cinci in orange against the Jets in (not mono) green. Alas…
check back tomorrow
A belated but very Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy your family and friends!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Watching the fourth quarterfinal of the sponsored college basketball tournament in Orlando, where a Cal player tripped on the big decal they placed at center court (which wasn’t there last year, incidentally). It wasn’t the average trip, as a gash opened up in the decal that had to be repaired with tape.
According to the twitter account for the event, the decal was creating issues when the teams were practicing on Wednesday.

Okay. I don’t really like the Lions throwbacks but I can deal with them. Not horrible, not great, just not much there. Kinda like the taste of water. Now I watch one Lions game a year. Just so happens that it’s today. I really wish they’d keep their throwbacks to some other day than today and let me see what they are SUPPOSED to look like. Not that I don’t know, but it sure would be nice to not ONLY think about them all year in that water getup.
Traxel,
They look like crap. Like a Div.III tea…
Oh, you meant the uniforms. Never mind.
Should someone come up with a gravy-colored uniform? Because today reminded how good everything looks with gravy on it. Mmmm…
No gravy colors here, but a little color vs. color action between Tuskegee and Alabama State:

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and for all our friends from other lands celebrating Just Another Thursday in November, I hope your day was special too.
