Personally, I loved yesterday’s 42-athon. In a sports world that’s become way too scripted and predictable, it was a kick to see scenes like this, this, and this. And even though I knew it was coming, it was still kinda startling to see 42 being worn by, say, Joe Torre or Derek Jeter. I even enjoyed the inevitable discrepancies between jerseys and other equipment (bonus points to the Devil Rays staff for their attention to detail).
A few specific observations:
• I liked how several teams used larger uni numbers than usual for No. 42, to make up for the lack of the player’s name. Teams that didn’t do this ended up with 42s that looked just a bit small (although in in at least one case maybe it was just a case of the numerals being overwhelmed by the size of the player).
• MLB equipment mangers are clearly out of practice when it comes to positioning uni numbers on a nameless jersey, because several players’ 42s were either a bit too high or a bit too low. One team that got it just right was the A’s.
• Those little helmet decals looked like total shit, and were the day’s one major misstep.
• Nice to see that several players went the extra mile by going high-cuffed. All the more disappointing, then, that Junior Griffey, who got this whole ball rolling in the first place, didn’t get the memo.
• Mike Cameron went a step further: high-cuffed pants and no batting gloves.
• Check out what MLB.com did for the roster pages of the all-42 teams — very cool.
• I’d been wondering if any of the umpires would get into the act, and one of them did: C.B. Bucknor. (In case you’re wondering, the first black umpire was Emmett Ashford in 1966, but umps didn’t yet have uniform numbers in those days.)
• The celebration extended beyond the world of baseball, incidentally: Check out what Jerry Stackhouse, had written on his sneakers yesterday. Stackhouse already wears No. 42, but I’m not sure if that’s a coincidence or if he chose that number as a Jackie tribute. Anyone know?
Ready to do it all over again next year? Actually, you won’t even have to wait that long, because the Indians are planning something similar later this season for Larry Doby.

Maybe that’s why Ensberg ran the Astros out of one inning and prolonged another (costing the Astros a run) when he fielded a two-out routine grounder and threw the ball about 30 feet wide of first base.
Actually, Ensberg’s blunders happened Saturday, but he was still wearing those shades then, too.
I think only baseball could have got away with something like Sunday. Uniform numbers, while important, aren’t really as necessary in this day of video scoreboards and heavy TV graphics. They are necessary in football (gotta know who the linemen are, right?), basketball (to keep track of the fouls) and hockey (because that’s the only way we can tell Canadians apart.)
Jose Calderon is wearing the 15 wristband to support fellow Raptor and fellow Spaniard Jorge Garbajosa, who suffered a pretty gruesome leg injury a couple of weeks ago.
Regarding the memorabilia case seen by Craig Glass: the link is a 1912 Hassan Triple Folder, catalog number T202, and the “St. Louis Amer.” team is the Browns in the familiar American League. I’m guessing that the jersey is completely unrelated to the card, and was just placed there because someone having a casual glimpse at it would only notice that the jersey was from a St. Louis team.
And some of those teams really botched it with the “nameless” 42 jerseys. The link were close behind. Those jerseys look like a guy who’s just been traded to the team during spring training, wearing a jersey with another guy’s name having been taken off!
The Cubs and Dodgers seem to position the numbers a bit low on their number-only jerseys normally, so link and link don’t look too bad. But even the link did a better job, and the link looked best of all. (I don’t think the numbers are bigger than usual; the Braves have always had big block numbers.)
NASCAR put a Jackie Robinson sticker on Juan Pablo Montoya’s Car for Sunday’s race.

Disappointing news out of Boston, where the Patriots Day game’s traditional 10am start has been moved back to noon, due to the weather.
I wish they’d moved it to, say, 11:55am, just to keep it as a pre-noon start. Having attended the Patriots Day game a few yrs back, I can attest that there are few things as enjoyable as hearing the P.A. announcer say, “Here are the starting lineups for this morning’s game….”
In reference to the Stackhouse thing, I was watching ESPN 87, or whichever channel was on (I think ESPN News might have taken over at the time) yesterday, and they mentioned that Stackhouse does wear 42 as a Robinson tribute.
Paul raised the question of whether Jerry Stackhouse originally chose to wear 42 as a tribute to Jackie Robinson. I saw an interview on the news last night where I believe Stackhouse said that was the reason, yet when I was looking for it this morning I found this from a chat session Stackhouse did last August:
JJ from ATL: Do you think the Mavs will do better, the same, or worse? + Why did you pick #42 for your jersey?
Jerry Stackhouse: I definitely feel we will be a better team next year. We have pretty much the same team…except for losing Finley in the Amnesty Rule….so I think we will be even better. I wear No. 42 because my brother wore No. 24 at Florida State, so I turned that around and also, I was always a big James Worthy fan and he wore No. 42.
So which is it? Does Stackhouse have multiple reasons, or is he just an opportunist? and does it really matter? And why did James Worthy wear 42?
You can find the whole chat link

I’ll be surprised if it even starts then . . .the weather here is BRUTAL!!! Just another lame attempt by Sox management to get fans into the ballpark, sell some sodas, hot dogs and merchandise and call off the game after fans have waited for HOURS. Talk about not respecting your fan base.
Its good to see that the Steelers patch says 75 Seasons instead of 75 Years
about jerry stackhouse: while in HS at oak hill, he wore jersey #5. jeff mcinnis who was also at oak hill wore #3. they both chose carolina. at this point stack chose #42… shammond williams had #3 already, and mcinnis chose #5. worthy wore #52 at carolina, yet his accomplishments fit the criteria for jersey retirement, so stack couldnt wear that. worthy wore #42 in LA because at the time he was drafted, jamaal wilkes was still with the lakers, and he wore #52.
on the waner jersey retirement: you will find that along with paul waner, another retired jersey will be that of dick groat, who already has his college jersey retired, however in a different sport.
his #10 is retired for dook basketball
does anyone know if tonights episode of 24 will be called 42 as a jackie robinson tribute?
Anyone else catch Morgan “Jack Parkman” Ensberg the other night? The shot on today’s post does NOT do justice.
since there were several rainouts yesterday, will the teams be wearing their jackie robinson tribute jerseys tonight? if i don’t get the chance to see emil brown in #42 i’m going to be one pissed off royals fan.
Preston Wilson looked great yesterday in the striped socks. Wish there was a way to talk him into keeping them!!
Troubling news in relation to the bears chatter on their site…the poll that is alluded to at the end of the page has the blue/blue combo at 31.5%…orange/white pants at 31.0%…white/blue at 24.7% and white/white at 12.8%. As a Bear fan, I hope they do not use this kinda innocent poll to get a gauge of what direction they should go with respect to how many times they will use the combos. Stick with the white/blue…or try out orange/blue once. Just to see how it is.
aside from the helmet stickers, i also enjoyed all the little touches that baseball got right with the Jackie Robinson tribute yesterday.
the announcer at Dodger Stadium announced each player as #42 as he came to the plate last night. did any of the other teams where all the players wore #42 do this?
What a disappointing Steelers Patch…I know that beauty lies in simplicity, but that one just doesn’t do anything for me.

The onscreen graphic when Mike Cameron was at the plate showed his number to be 42. However, when any of the Dodgers came to the plate, there was no uniform number shown.
Vin Scully got a HUGE ovation from the Dodger Stadium crowd. This almost rivaled Rachel Robinson’s. When you think about it though – how often does Vin get introduced to the crowd? It’s probably very rare when he gets to be the center of attention, even if he was only introducing and paying tribute to someone else.
My God, Griffey and Colome look like sh!t. Is it THAT f–cking hard to wear your pants up?!
I know, I know, it’s the way thing are now. But I can’t even stand watching games anymore…
Here’s an interesting article about how the Astros equipment manager handled the team wearing 42. Their game with the Phillies got rained out, but it looks like both teams will wear 42 again for the make up game.
link
I was watching the Mariners game on TV yesterday and was pretty sure Dave Neihaus said that one of the base umpires was wearing #42 also… I found a picture of the home plate ump, Dale Scott, and it wasn’t him, so it must have been Chris Guccione (1B), Ron Kulpa (2B), or Paul Emmel (3B). Damned if I can find a photo of any of them, though…
This might not be the place for this debate, but I’d really like an intelligent debate on this topic and I’ve always found this to be a reasonable, intelligent group of people I’m proud to be associated with, so here goes:
I really thought that the Jackie Robinson tribute was awesome (helmet stickers aside). It was an appropriate tribute to a true pioneer in baseball and in civil rights’ history. I certainly understand the value in what he did, what he stood for and what has come afterward.
This may be a petty squabble over choice of words but I find it odd that people like Derreck Lee would say (and I’m paraphrasing), “If it wasn’t for Jackie Robinson, I wouldn’t be here today.” As I said, Robinson was a true pioneer, not just in sports, but in my opinion if it hadn’t been him, it would’ve been someone, right? I find it hard to believe that Lee and the other current players that have made this statement honestly believe that, in 2007, there would be no African-American Major Leaguers had it not been for Robinson. Its kind of like saying if Thomas Edison hadn’t invented the light bulb, we’d all still be roaming around in the dark.
If Jackie Robinson had never existed, someone else would have broken that barrier. In the next year or two? Maybe not. In the next decade? Most certainly. Would this person have dealt with the situation as eloquently and positively as Robinson did given the circumstances? I would say most likely not. I could see this statement coming from 50’s and 60’s ballplayers, because they are the players for which he truly paved the way.
Again, I’m not trying to take anything away from his accomplishments. I’m just wondering if anyone else had these thoughts when they heard these quotes, or is it my teacher brain taking these quotes too literally?
It’s very disappointing to me that UCF is dropping the ‘Golden’. ‘Knights’ is just too generic.
Would this person have dealt with the situation as eloquently and positively as Robinson did given the circumstances? I would say most likely not.
Just to qualify this statement. It’s not that I don’t think anyone else would have been able to handle this situation, I just think he was the perfect man at the perfect time.
Maakies? Nice.
according to the King’s radio announcer, Stackhouse petitioned the league to have his name plate read “Robinson” for yesterday’s game, but the league turned him down. Radio guy said it was something to do with NBA not wanting to show up MLB on their day.

I didn’t see the game… so are you referring to “Pyjamma bottoms”, or a low belt line? I can agree with the low belt line earning that disgust, but I happen to like the look of the super low cuffs on the bottom of baseball uniforms. Don’t get me wrong, I like the Stirrup too, but for some reason, I think having the bottom of the pants going over the top of the shoe seems like a reasonable alternative, and a acceptable evolution of the uniform.

I doubt that the Steelers helmet will actually hit the field, they did wear the same helmet for a year in the 60’s.

Jeter’s looks link. You can see the thickness of the tackle-twill numbers in this shot.

Lighting, I would guess. It looks Torre is standing in the shade while Jeter is under more light, washing out the edge of the number a bit.
You can add Joe Beimel to the list of ridiculously baggy uni offendors, along with Colome. Quote from my girlfriend at the game last night (who btw has NO clue about the game of baseball or uniforms)
“I can’t believe he [Beimel] actually wants to look like that on TV, what a slob”

Well obviously this is correct, if it hadn’t been Robinson, it would have been someone. There were definatly other civil rights pioneers in and out of the baseball world. I think there are different ways to interpret that statement though. I think that for any person to even try to imagine what Mr. Robinson had to go though would be impossible.
When I hear a statement like that, I interpret it as “without men like Mr. Robinson AND all the other civil rights pioneers of his time, it is possible that world we live in COULD be very different.”

I agree with Tom. I took it to mean, “If it weren’t for Jackie Robinson or someone like him, I wouldn’t be here.” It’s paying homage to the first for the undoubtedly rough time he had, but I don’t think the speaker thinks there wouldn’t have been someone else doing the same thing.
Joe, I disagree with you about the Steelers decal. I think it’s almost perfect in its simplicity.
Glad to see Doby get his due–if MLB agrees.
TD (from last night), so you’re the reason for my insanity, good to know. Like I need an excuse to be insane.
About that basketball player wearing a different number on his armband. The Rockets when they had Steve Francis and Cuttino Mobley would switch wrist band numbers all the time. I tried to find pictures but no luck, I just remember going to games and I would wonder why they had some other guys wristband on.
Also Cuttino now wears an arm band that says “CAT5” 5 being his number, but not sure what the “cat” is for
I also agree with Jason. My interpretation of the statements made by current black players would be that Jackie Robinson helped pave the way for other players, made things easier for players. That without his courage to do what he believed was right, the opportunity for black players to play would have taken a lot longer. He had to suffer many hardships. He received death threats saying that if he took the field, he would be shot. That alone said alot about the determination on his part to break the barriers and play for the love of the game.

i guess my interpretation of how jackie became the first is two fold.
a. his experience: his brother went through a similar experience at the berlin olympics. finishing with the silver medal in the 100 to jesse owens, he was able to overcome that “mess” of nazi germany and adolf hitler (of course with the help of owens too)
b. his gm: branch rickey was a gm ahead of his time. not in the sense that rostering a black player in ’47 was too early, but in the sense that he had the foresight and balls to say, you win with the best players, and disregarding a vital part of the talent pool (the black player) is a bunch of bullshit. campy and newcombe later reinforced his message.
b. his outlook: whether or not it is true or poetic license, if youve ever seen the jackie robinson story, there is an exchange between rickey and jackie which gives us insight into rickey’s head in finding just the right person to take on this monumental undertaking. its like he was giving him a job interview. he knew jackie was the player for the job, he just needed to know if he was the man for the job;
‘Suppose I’m a player. . . in the heat of an important ball game.”Suppose I collide with you at second base. When I get up, I yell, ‘You dirty, black son of a -‘ ‘What do you do?’
‘Mr. Rickey,’ Jackie said, ‘do you want a ballplayer who’s afraid to fight back?’
‘I want a ballplayer with guts enough not to fight back!’
‘Now I’m playing against you in a World Series!” “I’m a hotheaded player. I want to win that game, so I go into you spikes first, but you don’t give ground. You stand there and you jab the ball into my ribs and the umpire yells, ‘Out!’ I flare up – all I see is your face-that black face right on top of me -‘
‘So I haul off and punch you right in the cheek!’
‘What do you do?’ Rickey roared.
‘Mr. Rickey,’ Jacie whispered, ‘I’ve got two cheeks.”

I think you’re right, and agree with the other posters here, that the more proper phrase would be “Jackie and others like him”. However, I have to admit that I take some issue with the Robinson celebrations because Larry Doby does so often get overlooked. Not only did he not play in the minors before coming to the Indians, Bill Veeck wanted to have him on the active roster to begin the season, but was voted down by the other owners. Veeck also wanted to field a team of all black players during WWII when most players were off fighting overseas. Interestingly enough, the owner who was most vociferous in his opposition to this idea was none other than Branch Rickey, who at the time said that the black man did not, and would never, have any place in major league baseball.
Aside from that, I do think that the Indians thing for Doby is a great idea. When will the commissioner retire the number 14 throughout the American League? That’s what needs to be done next.

I saw the highlights of the match and they did make mention of the Hillsborough tragedy. They even showed that one of the Man City players brought out flowers before the game and placed them just off of the pitch in front of the Liverpool supporters.
I was watching the Mavericks game yesterday and the announcers said that Jerry Stackhouse made a request to the NBA that he be allowed to wear “Robinson” on the back of his jersey for that game. His request was denied because the powers that be weren’t sure about honoring another sport and didn’t want to start an avalanche of requests. So I can’t say why he originally chose the number 42, but apparently he did want to be part of the whole Jackie Robinson celebration.

b. his gm: branch rickey was a gm ahead of his time. not in the sense that rostering a black player in ’47 was too early, but in the sense that he had the foresight and balls to say, you win with the best players, and disregarding a vital part of the talent pool (the black player) is a bunch of bullshit. campy and newcombe later reinforced his message.
b. his outlook: whether or not it is true or poetic license, if youve ever seen the jackie robinson story, there is an exchange between rickey and jackie which gives us insight into rickey’s head in finding just the right person to take on this monumental undertaking. its like he was giving him a job interview. he knew jackie was the player for the job, he just needed to know if he was the man for the job;
That reminds me of a conversation that Branch Rickey had with Bobby Bragan shortly after Robinson was signed. Knowing Bragan was from Alabama, Rickey approached him asking if disliked the idea of Robinson playing on the same team as him. Bragan replied that he did not like the idea. Rickey then asked if he wanted to be traded, Bragan replied that he did. Rickey then asked him, that if it took time for him to be traded, would Bragan cease to play hard and hustle. Bragan said he would continue to play hard everyday regardless of who was on his team. Branch Rickey said ‘Well that’s that then’ and he never traded Bragan.

Yes, and Jack Bauer becomes Jackie Bauer.
Thanks for the levity. My boys, who are both Little Leaguers thought last night’s tributes were great. Now, one of them wants to have #42 on his jersey next year while the other has agreed to take #24. The whole team still asks for #44, which coach refuses to do. Too much pressure, he says!

It’s not like long pants is a link to themselves!
As a UCF student I am indifferent about the change from Golden Knights to just Knights, Knights was most used in common reference anyways. I am however intrigued about the new logo and schemes for UCF.
One possibly unrelated note, in the UCF bookstore there is a section that has UCF branded Under Armour shirts, pants, and hoodies. UCF has been an Adidas school for at least all of my tenure here, and I think it dates back about 5 years. I’m curious if this could be a precursor to Under Armour being the new athletic supplier with a new look and theme. Does any other students know of schools who have Under Armour branded stuff even if their a Nike/Adidas School, or Paul have you heard anything about UCF moving to UA?

I think all players on a team should wear their pants the same way.
Either everyone has their pants long (but please not strapped to the shoes), or everyone is showing stirrups (and all showing the same amount of sock).
To me, it’s not “uniform” when everyone’s got their own style and doing their own thing.

Be that as it may, I agree with Andy (#11) that the whole team should wear their pants one way or the other for uniformity’s sake.

What I really meant by it is that it looks like whoever designed it just bought Adobe Illustrator last week, gave a glance to this book, and then made that logo.
Until Joe Torre was informed that the No. 42 jersey he wore to honor the 60th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s major league debut was going to be auctioned off, Torre had designs on keeping it.

I can get with the depth or a font more like the one the Steelers use, but I wouldn’t gussy it up much past that. Here’s what I’m hoping for, is that someone who went Jackie style with the pants and stirrups had a stellar day and continues the look for the rest of the season. Is that too much to ask?
Re: If it hadn’t been Jackie, it would have been somebody else…
It would have been a whole bunch of somebody elses if Bill Veeck had his way. He wanted to buy the Philadelphia Phillies and stock it with Negro League stars, but made the mistake of telling Commissioner Landis, who quickly found another buyer for the team and got it approved by the other owners before Veeck knew what hit him.

agree! circle gets a square!!!
as a true UNC fan, i have always lived by this mantra. “if you play basketball at dook, you are destined for nba mediocrity.”
Not really true – Brand, Deng, Maggette, Boozer, Battier – that’s 5 current above players above mediocrity levels. How many for UNC?

I second that! Can’t wait for the Jackie Bauer Power Hour tonight.
I’d rather MLB throw a sticker on a helmet then a cheap patch on a cap. While I think it would of been better if the sticker had been on the back of the helmet ala NFL, at least there weren’t any cheap patches falling off caps and flooding the MLB store.
Yeah, actually all the English teams were to be wearing them. I was watching the Chelsea v Blackburn FA cup match and they were wearing it too, but John Terry’s kept getting covered by his captain’s armband.

I think Jose Cruz Jr.–sporting awesome early 80s style stirrups–crushed a home run for the Padres against the Dodgers last night. But the Padres still lost.
What was Preston Wilson’s line like? Or Mike Cameron?
Not really sure, I didn’t watch the whole game. I’m willing to bet that Wilson’s line included at least one or two strikeouts though.
LSU outfielder Chris McGhee also got in on the Jackie Robinson celebration. He ditched his normal number 32 and wore 42 against Ole Miss on Sunday.

As mentioned previously in this blog, Cruz Jr. wears his stirrups nice and tall as a tribute to his father, who was a MLB player.
He’s worn them high all year (except for the camo alternates)
He’s also done surprisingly well of the bench, and as a #4 OF for the padres.

Does any other students know of schools who have Under Armour branded stuff even if their a Nike/Adidas School, or Paul have you heard anything about UCF moving to UA?
i am a student at uconn and they have recenlty put under armour clothes in our bookstore. we are a nike school besides a few sports who have outside contracts. under armour might be having some new college line or something.
Very tragic incident that happened today at Virgina Tech. My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of the victims. I hope that throughout the remainder of this season and at least the 2007-08 season Sports teams wear a memorial patch to honor the people who lost their lives in the worst school shooting in the history of the US.
I know typically patches are to honor former athletes or people related to the athletic department however a school is sort of like a big family and it would be a nice gesture.

The Jackie Robinson thing is great and all, but I definitely have issue with the cash grab aspect. Wasn’t it yesterday someone said that Carl Crawford was switching jerseys every inning so they could auction off more of them? I’m sure most of the proceeds go to the Jackie Robinson Foundation, but still.
Take a look in the MLB store for some more bilking. For only $100 you can be the proud owner of a Jackie Robinson link, complete with generic number font and another player’s name!
They have one for every team. If you want the authentic (with no name on the back), it’ll set you back between link and link.
Keep up the cash grab, MLB!

Yeah even we have Under Armour in our bookstore too…and I go to Prairie View A&M (yeah you haven’t heard of it unless you were watching ESPN the day they named our ’90s football team the worst in history.) But it’s a historically black university and Russell Athletics (yeah freakin’ RUSSELL) has a contract with the HBCUs. The only exception I’ve seen is our womans basketball team having Nike and I think that’s because of Cynthia Cooper being the head coach.

JMB,
I’m at Rockies-Giants now, both teams are wearing regular whites and grays. The Rockies do not pre-schedule their alts, as it is the choice of the starting pitcher each night what uniform top they will wear.

I worked this past summer at the Tulane Bookstore. They had Underarmor branded Tulane clothing, and the school that I attend (Trinity U in San Antonio) has them as well. In fact, I own maroon underarmor shorts that have our logo on them.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a deal involving Barnes and Noble College Bookstores, not with the athletic dept.

The game wasn’t live on telly because it was on a Saturday afternoon. There’s an agreement not to show any live football then (it’s now just 2-5pm) to allow lower league teams a chance to get a decent crowd in.
I wasn’t aware of other teams paying tribute, but Liverpool tend to show up for a memorial service on the 15th of April every year, and wear the armbands on the nearest game.

the announcer at Dodger Stadium announced each player as #42 as he came to the plate last night. did any of the other teams where all the players wore #42 do this?
The onscreen graphic when Mike Cameron was at the plate showed his number to be 42. However, when any of the Dodgers came to the plate, there was no uniform number shown.
Vin Scully got a HUGE ovation from the Dodger Stadium crowd. This almost rivaled Rachel Robinson’s. When you think about it though – how often does Vin get introduced to the crowd? It’s probably very rare when he gets to be the center of attention, even if he was only introducing and paying tribute to someone else.
What was up with Vin Scully’s hair!!
Aerodynamic, huh. “Vin, cleared for takeoff.”

You’re at a baseball game and are surfing the web! That must be some boring game.
Paul –
That Warren Strelow patch you mentioned the Sharks are wearing aren’t just on their helmet. I’m watching game 3 of the Sharks-Predators series and I noticed the same “WAS” logo on the left arm of the team’s jerseys – at the very least, I saw it clearly on Joe Thornton’s jersey.. Sorry I can’t get a screenshot of this, since I don’t have the hardware to pull it off an HD broadcast.
At Iowa State there is UA clothing for sure. I also know that Iowa has UA stuff for sale. I assume it doesn’t mean anything.
I noticed this same thing while watching the game. I have a grainy photo of the link, but it does the trick.

That was me mentioning Carl Crawford. I don’t have a problem with the jerseys being auctioned for charity, but I think it should end there. No other jerseys sold. I know it won’t happen, but I can dream.
all of the proceeds from the mlb.com auctions go the the Jackie Robinson Foundation, that provides scholarships for minority students.

Off-topic…Let it be known that the article has a misquote. Romeo Miller is NOT one of the top rappers in this country, his state, or even his home city!! Not even close!
Interesting that the rays went to the trouble of doing the helmet, which looks kind of weird since the front number is the same.
Paul,
The San Jose Sharks logo to the left of the 29 on the helmet isnt the memorial, thats the Shark Fin logo that theyve had for a while. If anything, its to the right of the 29 in the bottom right corner

And I’m cool with that. But selling jerseys with another player’s name on the back… not cool.
This guy made a nice Jackie Robinson tribute and put together an All-42 team with pictures.

139, Ed:
I think Romeo is one of the top selling Rap artist. Younger kids love him. I know he is a pretty decent point guard too, being invited to ABCD last summer. I don’t know if Derozan, who is a top prospect, had anything to do with Romeo’s signing (I’ll sign if you sign my best friend type of deal). Notice they signed another PG the same day.
by the say, they Mike Breen said during the Mavs-Spurs game that Stackhouse does wear 42 in honor of Jackie.
I’ve been tuning in and out, but I think Jerome Williams of the Nats is wearing a Virginia Tech cap. Don’t know about the rest of the team. It caught my eye because it was adjustable and had an ACC patch on the right side.
Update: Apparently all the starting nine for Washington are wearing VT hats, and Manny Acta has a white VT cap on. Here’s a picture of Jerome Williams:

Mike Stanton is wearing a Reds cap with a grey underbill. All the other Reds had the new black underbill. link
