Hockey season just ended, but the NHL is still in the news, because the Anaheim Ducks (no longer “Mighty,” because they’re no longer owned by Disney) unveiled their new uniforms yesterday.
This design has its nice touches (the repeated use of the thin orange stripes is particularly nice), but Uni Watch is generally unimpressed. For starters, the diagonal jersey striping (which looks even worse from behind) is bad news, especially since it inevitably evokes thoughts of such ill-fated disasters as this and this. And the black/orange color scheme is a bit iffy — as reader Joe Berlinghieri points out, “there’s the danger that they could start to look like Halloween costumes, like the old Canucks uniforms.”
But the biggest problem is the jersey logo. Uni Watch loves the web-footed “D,” and the overall wordmark isn’t so bad by itself, but it’s a total snooze when applied to the jersey. Over on Chris Creamer‘s message boards, someone showed how cool it would’ve been if they’d just used the D. And hey, what if they’d had the guts to do something literal, instead of stylized, like the minor league Long Island Ducks baseball team. Still, Uni Watch supposes we should be glad the Anaheim crew didn’t take any cues from those other Ducks who released new unis this week.
Uni Watch News Ticker: Uni Watch can’t decide what to think about Lastings Milledge’s red armbands — sorta cool, but also the kind of thing that could easily get out of hand. … Uni Watch webmaster John Ekdahl is up in Cooperstown, where he snapped this photo of the MLB uniform guidelines, which are posted in every team’s clubhouse. … Interesting note from Matt French, who writes: “During Wednesday’s UNC/Cal State Fullerton game, UNC called on lefty fastballer Andrew Miller to close out the game with two out in the 9th. As Miller made his way to the mound, the home plate umpire noticed he had a red substance on the right shoulder of his uniform. They called a mound conference and discussed for the better part of two minutes whether the substance was blood or ketchup. It turns out Miller — traditionally a starter — was eating something in the dugout, figuring he wouldn’t see action in the game. When he got the word in the 6th that he might throw some relief, he apparently dropped whatever the food item was onto his uniform.” You can vagely see what he’s talking about in this photo of Miller icing down his arm after the game. … Uni Watch’s recent note about the growing scourge of elastic-less pant cuffs prompted this note from Lincoln King: “Cubs broadcasters Len Casper and Bob Brenly reported during the June 20th Cubs game that Scott Eyre received word from his agent that he would be fined by MLB for taking the elastic out of the bottoms of his pants. That night, he returned with elastic in his pants.” This is the first Uni Watch has heard of anyone being fined for this particular offense. … Logo Creep Alert from Dave Schmitt, who took this screen-grab from yesterday’s Ghana/USA match. “Is this a bandage?” he asks. “A Nike ring?” Beats Uni Watch. Anyone..? … It’s annoying enough that Roger Clemens has been wearing that stupid “Rocket Man” logo on his glove in recent years. But it looked even bigger and uglier last night.
A bad week for Ducks.
I can not even bring myself to desribe the depth of my disgust and boredom with black uniforms. We get it. They are supposed to be intimidating. They are supposed to be cool. Unfortunately they are just overdone, commonplace unis which show no creativity with color schemes.
It is no wonder the gys look so grim as they model the unis.
The Ducks would have been much better off with the large web footed D logo like the one the message board guys drew up. The script is too small on the front, so from a distance this jersey will be even more boring. It’s also very lame to go with black. If you have to use a jersey color to be an intimidating hockey club, then you have bigger issues to solve.
Disappointing that MLB doesn’t take the opportunity to show stirrups and sanitaries as part of the official uniform on the guideline poster. Even their “model” has long pants that fall to the top of the shoe. The socks aren’t even listed as part of the official uniform at the top.
Re: Lastings Milledge – At least he doesn’t appear to have fallen into the “professional” long pants look, yet, like David Wright.
The new Ducks unis are so-so…I thought the diagonal stripe was on its way out, that was soooo 1990’s.
Look for the Washington Capitals to come out with new ones.
Note that the uniform guidelines depicted for the Nationals are out of date – the Nationals now have Blue BP Jerseys.
ed
The ducks unis fall under the “yawn..” category.
A bright spot in this otherwise dastardly day comes from Cardinals pitcher Anthony Reyes, who brought in some stirrup eye-candy against the White Sox. Couldn’t find a game pic, but this is close to the same…
link
Rather than bashing the Ducks’ new unis, couldn’t we all just celebrate the fact that they’ve banished that hideous pinkish/purple color from their scheme, not to mention that stupid Disney molded-like-a-duck’s-face hockey mask? Let’s face it, what they’ve done is still a HUGE improvement!

Words cannot describe the looks on the faces on Corey Perry and Todd Marchant’s faces during the unveiling of the new Ducks uniforms. Is there anything less cool than standing around in a lame uni, full pads and skates? Poor guys…
I also happened to a cool find a pic of my high school alma mater’s (St. Ed’s in Lakewood, Ohio) baseball uniforms : link
Nice stirrups fellas…
The Nike “balla” thing is not ad copy from the company; that’s directly from the website. Just look at the URL: phatpimp. I mean c’mon, that’s obvious what target audience they are trying to reach. Nike’s not that idiotic.

The finger sleeve protecets the knuckle if it gets jammed. Seems like a goofy idea but they actually work. I used one last summer playing softball, not really sure why they would need on in soccer though?

You mean that’s not a Nike site? Get out.
Yes, it is a Nike Finger Sleeve. NBA and College players even have them personalized with their number or initials (Reggie Miller, AI, and TMac).
As for Clemens and “his logo”, he was fined several years ago while with the Yankees for his “300 Win” logo being too big. On top of that, his record is awful in games that he wears the logo vs. the blank glove.
The Nike Finger Sleeve was designed by Susan Sokolowski at Nike (more detail about the development about halfway down):

I imagine he had to wear it out of obligation to his personal sponsor: Nike. The team wears puma unis, so he needed to go to odd lengths to fulfill his “swoosh quota”
Guys, that Ducks jersey is awful. It really looks like they made that logo in 2 minutes. You could tell the players sporting those felt like douche bags.
Side note. You know in TV commercials, like the soup commercials, why are the players always wearing there football pants?? They don’t have the pads in them, just the pants and their jersey on. Looks completely stupid. I understand the jersey, but why the pants?!!

seems more and more common that starting pitchers have the “authority” to determine what uniform combo the team will wear on days they pitch… I realize this applies only to teams that have various, random, alternate options…
soooooo… I started thinking (after watching martinez thankfully sporting correct-length pants yesterday)I wonder if starting pitchers could “require” the entire team to wear their pants where they are supposed to be??? or how about stirrups and sanitaries on days they feel the urge???
is that too far-fetched??
then again, who would’ve thought players would be stretching their pant bottoms underneath their spikes???
one more novel thought I had…
I am a big fan of how NFL players in recent years have shown more and more colored socks.. from the “high whites” of the 80’s, seems the fashion has come full circle… with just a couple inches of white now visible.. I view this as football’s version of “showing stirrup”.. in kind of a reverse-sense they are showing more color rather than a full pant or high-white sock look…
matter of fact, one of the biggest fines collected by the “fashion police” at each game are players not showing enough white above the cleat…
I think it has been broached on one of the uni boards before… BUT I’ll bring it up now… would it be so hard for MLB to designate former player/fashion police for each home team… reminding players of pant length guidelines, and then summarily fining all who do not comply??? I thought selig attempted to address the low-pant issue a couple years ago….
jeez, the NFL fines are in the thousands for sock length/not enough white!!!!
just spitfalling here…..
For the first time in their history, the Ducks had a decent jersey this year. Their third one which they wore at home during the playoffs was pretty good by which I mean not hideous (we are talking about the Ducks after all). When I first read today’s post I thought they may have come to their senses and started using it full time. Then I saw the pictures. When will teams stop letting marketing departments and focus groups design uniforms and stick to something simple and sane (like Toronto, Montreal and Detroit).
Proving once again that franchise should have been awarded to Hamilton.
Call me weird but I like the Oregon Ducks’ unis. Bummer that Anaheim had to give up the goalie mask logo but that’s no excuse for pukey colors and boring logo. Am I missing something or is there no secondary logo? Aren’t NHL teams required these days to have like 5 different logos at any given time?
At first glance, I actually liked the Ducks’ new unis. At second glance, I agree that the duck-foot “D” would have been significantly better than the wordmark, as pointed out above; it even matches the arc of the unfortunate diagonal stripes. At least the digits on the back are each the same size, unlike the Islanders and Blues outfits Paul referenced, both of which were significantly worse.
I do very much like the color scheme, though: black, metallic gold and orange. It’s original, you have to give them that. It seems every color combination in the world has either been used or is just too hideous to contemplate. I always like it when a team comes up with an original and attractive combination.
(Speaking of which, won’t someone please bring back the awesome USFL Michigan Panthers color scheme of plum, champagne gold and powder blue? Or the Jacksonville Bulls’ burgundy, orange and silver? Or the Arizona Wranglers’ copper, red and blue? or…)
P.S. Another great week for the Mets; blue caps in 4 of the last 5 games. TRUE METS = BLUE METS.
On the Anaheim Ducks uniforms. I agree the web-footed D would have been cool on its own. Also, if you rotate it 90 degrees, it would have passed for an ‘A’ – which would have been an idea for the road unis.
(Speaking of which, won’t someone please bring back the awesome USFL Michigan Panthers color scheme of plum, champagne gold and powder blue? Or the Jacksonville Bulls’ burgundy, orange and silver? Or the Arizona Wranglers’ copper, red and blue? or…).
While the Panthers had decent colors (similar to the link, their logo was just awful. In fact, the entire freaking league’s logos were an abortion:
link
why didn’t the ducks just make a white version of last years alt. jerseys, the logo wasn’t shabby and the jerseys looked way better than these things . I would have maybe like dit if the fabric was like this:
link
Ohh, can’t agree with you JazzyJeff. I loved the Panthers’ logo; best helmet ever. I thought the USFL had great uniforms (although there were, of course, as always, some weak entries; the Oklahoma Outlaws, for example.) My only complaint was that every other team seemed to wear red and gold (Stars, Stallions, ’84 Wranglers, Generals if you count their helmet decal) or red and silver (Showboats, Blitz), and there were too many Wild-West-motif nicknames (Gamblers, Wranglers, Gunslingers, Outlaws). The San Antonio Gunslingers had great colors but a weak logo; the reverse was true for the Breakers, Gamblers and Invaders.
All in all I loved the ,link; the Panthers, Bulls and ’84 Wranglers are my favorites.
Correcting link:
link
…and I forgot about the Bandits (red & silver, Wild West motif)…
Did anyone else notice in the very first picture of the blog that the Ducks new uniforms have different companies on the legs of the pants. It appears to be Easton on one and CCH on the other (I believe, correct me if I’m wrong)
Those are different companies on the players pants, which is common in the NHL cause individual players choose which hockey company pants they want to wear. You can see it with their gloves, skates, and sticks. That is not part of the uniform, only the color is part of theuniform.

Question to Bobby D — You posted this last night:
Actually there was an OF with the Cubs, who was that, was with them a bit before Tuffy Rhodes showed up, lefty hitter, usually played LF, and got traded w/ the Yankess and played for them a bit too, used to wear so many gloves in his back pocket they looked like cheeseburgers and he already had a big booty. If it wasn’t late I know I’d come up with the dude’s name but I gotta hit the hay..
Are you thinking of Mel Hall by any chance?
speeking of hockey jerseys anybody notice the hurricanes shoulder patch is actully a tropical storm symbol and not a hurricane!
I’m the one that did up that “D” logo jersey, although I imagine that a lot of people were thinking the same thing beforehand. It’s sad that 2 minutes on Photoshop produces a better result than 6-8 months of planning by a professional design firm.
Trevor, thanks for that link on the Nike designer. Interesting read.
Thank you, JTH. I just noticed from the pic that although Anthony gets 5 bonus points for the hosiery, he gets -2 points for the necklace. Those stirrups should be mandatory for all of the Cardinals.
Coach Fran of Texas A&M addressed a few uniform questions in his weekly cloumn today.
Fridays with Fran
Here’s a segment from the article. It would be better with pictures.
“We’ve had several emails about the uniforms, such from as Karl in Louise and Brandon in Frisco, wanting to know whether we’ll have any changes. Brandon, for instance, wrote:
“We have been hearing all off-season that we are getting new uniforms. Can you explain what they look like and has the team voted yet to put the names on the back again?â€Â
That last one is the most-asked question. We ran a couple of polls and got interesting results from the largest participation of any of our polls over the last couple of years. A large majority favors putting the names back on the jerseys, and about half of the voters went with having the players make that decision.
Well, the players will decide, and we’ll announce their decision when camp opens in August. I’m not sure where Brandon and others would have heard about new uniforms; we custom-order our uniforms from Nike over a year before the season they’ll be used in, so the 2006 uniforms were designed in the spring of 2005. One other question that comes up a lot is about us wearing all-maroon; we’ll continue to do that on the game designated by the student body as Maroon Out.
I asked Matt Watson, our football equipment manager, to fill you in on all the details of the 2006 uniform, and here is what he came up with:
“The 2006 game jersey will keep the same traditional look as we’ve had in the past. There are two main differences between the 2006 jersey and the cordura jersey we have worn the last couple of years.
“First, the 2006 jersey will feature a new cut, or pattern. The previous cordura jersey had a two-way stretch front and back mesh, and a stretch cordura insert that flowed almost seamlessly up both sides of the jersey and over the shoulders and sleeves. The 2006 jersey takes the cordura stretch-fit a step further, by starting the cordura on both sides of the jersey. Instead of flowing straight up the jersey, it moves to the back of the jersey and merges with the other side into a cordura main body.
“The sleeves are independent cordura sleeves, with stretch mesh under the arm and next to the neckline. This new jersey maximizes the flexibility of the fabrics to create a tighter fit while not restricting the player’s movement, and at the same time makes it increasingly difficult for an opposing player to grab and hold.
“The new jersey also improves ventilation and will be lighter in weight. Here is an explanation of the new jersey with some of Nike’s technological findings regarding the fabrics:
“The new fabric will improve ventilation, will be lighter in weight, but still maintain its durability. The stretch woven material will also allow moisture, both sweat and rain, to pass through the jersey and pants. Depending on playing conditions, the combined weight of the jersey and pants will be 28-to-34% lighter than before….about 3 pounds, compared to as much as 4 ½ pounds in previous seasons.
“According to Nike’s Bill Bowerman Formula, by reducing 1 ounce of weight for each step, a player carries 55 fewer pounds over the distance of one mile. For a wide receiver or defensive back playing 40 snaps and running an average of 20 yards each snap, the new uniforms will save that player 520 pounds carried over the course of a game.
“The other main difference for us is that the numbers and letters on the jersey will be a stretch tackle, twill material. This will provide a much cleaner and crisper look to the uniform, and make the name and numbers look much bolder. The numbers are much lighter than the traditional tackle twill numbers.
“The mesh on the 2006 jersey will be a smaller mesh than the porthole mesh used in the previous cordura jersey. This will look similar to the mesh style we had before 2002.â€Â
The hammer fell in the World Cup! The last three teams remaining with the opportunity to wear the same uni combo for all three group games have played and the results are in line with our previous findings!
Tunisia wore a different uni and lost to Ukraine who wore their all yellow again and advanced:
link
Spain (in no danger of not advancing) wore their red and blue again, rounding out all teams who wore the same uni combo for all three group games have all advanced:

US take heed…
On another note though, I’m taking away another point for “flat bill effect”. What’s with player’s not bending their bills? Has bending become a lost skill that wasn’t passed down to the younger generation, I noticed North Carolina players appeared to be ignorant of the idea…
link
Both new Ducks uniforms are UGLY. This from the same franchise that once had a third jersey with Donald Duck playing hockey. The webbed D is pretty cool though.
Avalanche still have the best hockey uniforms.
On another note, Kevin Millar is back to black socks instead of stirrups… wonder if they enforced the rule again.
The US couldn’t have worn their whites in their first game against the Czech republic. Since the Czech’s primary unis are their white, the US had to wear the blue since they were they were the away team. It didn’t matter who was home or away against Italy because the Azzuri primary is blue.
The A&M uni explanation kind of sounds like the Miami template. No?
On another note though, I’m taking away another point for “flat bill effect”.
I’m with you on this. That definitely detracted from the overall look. But give the kid another point for pitching a gem of a game. Holding the Sox to one run on one hit after veterans Mulder and Marquis got absolutely torched in the first two games of the series was mighty impressive.
Hell, aside from Thome’s home run, the only other Sox baserunner was Jermaine Dye, who got on thanks to Taguchi’s 3-base error.
Here’s some excrutiating detail on Texas A&M’s (my alma mater) 2006 football jersey from Coach Fran’s website…
(i’d expect Nike made these changes in general to most of their 2006 designs)
“The 2006 game jersey will keep the same traditional look as we’ve had in the past. There are two main differences between the 2006 jersey and the cordura jersey we have worn the last couple of years.

sorry…. i had not read the thread first….
I wonder how the Ducks jersy would have looked had they kept the old logo but the new colors. The thing I liked about the old logo was it incorperated the game itself into it with the hockey sticks, then making the goalie mask for a duck was a bit childish, but cool. I wish I could see what that would have looked like. I do however like the stripes as they’re not over powering like St. Louis used to have.
I had seen what appeared to be an alternate ducks logo on another message board. It had a somewhat realistic duck flying across a shield with hockey sticks behind the duck. I’ll try to find it again.
I like the flat bill as a player, because it gives more room for sunglasses under the hat brim. And, as a big time proponent of the almost exstinct flip down sunglasses, this is key. Also I really think the flat brim looks cool for a player with longer hair.
Aside from the red armbands (undecided, but leaning towards cool. Orange would be much better, obviously), Lastings looks pretty sweet in that photo. The classic Mets uni, blue helmet & showing some sock.
The US couldn’t have worn their whites in their first game against the Czech republic. The Czech’s primary unis are not white, it’s red shirt, white shorts, blue socks. i think it was the US who decided on the blue unis.

Sometimes the “home” team changes to white to avoid the extra heat of wearing dark unis, specially playing noonish games on summer, alla Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Bucks.

Hmm… Joe Crede’s been known to sport both link. The curved bill seems to work for him.
Unless of course you’re referring to bills that are radically curved not allowing room for the flip-shades.
JFL, I have always been a function over form man, and if not bending your bill appeases your need to have shades, go fot it. Yet, for the most part, these players aren’t sporting any eyewear, they’re only sporting the dork-o-rama look with their flat bill.
Bending your bill serves the chief function of the bill (and hat in general), which is to keep the sun out of your eyes. So…let’s take the 10 seconds it takes to bend a bill and leave the flat look to these fellas.

has anyone else noticed how easily the puma jerseys in the world cup appear drenched? the shirts are stikcing to the players’ chests after a few minutes. really odd…
What’s with the fat-Elvis-style gold lame’? It’s a hockey sweater, not an evening gown!!
I agree that the New Era 59/50 which all pro teams wear does not look good with a flat brim, but for hs and college teams which often have lower profile cap on which I really think the flat brim looks good. But, maybe it is just one of those crazy youth things like high socks apparently are.
This alternate Ducks’uni might be better:
link
The flat bill for function is totally respectable, but otherwise I agree that it just looks completely dorky. However, I think the kids today (I’m only 26, but apparently I’ve already outgrown my “hip” years) like the flat bill. I guess it’s one of those things that goes back and forth. I always thought my dad wore his bill too flat, I guess now he’s back in style.
Flat style is a college thing. Its like the north face fleece and jean skirts with spandex underneath. It is what college kids do. College players that are in the show now sometimes continue to support the straight bill.
I think it is awesome, it is the way the game should be played.
is no one going to challenge this?

oh come on — if your jersey weighs one more ounce than mine at the end of a mile you have carried ONE OUNCE more than me, not 55 pounds. THE JERSEY DOESN’T WEIGH CLOSE TO 55 POUNDS. there has to be some cumulative effect of having a heavier jersey over a game but 55 pounds from one ounce? this looks like very suspicious. I’m not buying what Nike is selling!
Wimbledon has posted a picture of the new line judges and ball kids outfits… They look pretty nice, but man that’s a lot of piping on those blazers.

Look at the photo of the mallard Paul has at the start of the article. I’m no design expert, but incorporate the colours of the mallard duck into the uni and then you have something to work with, even the current lame logo they just unveiled.
re: LI Ducks — Awww! What a cute widdle hockey team!
re: ANA Ducks — The alt logo that Pedro posted is MUCH better than the featured one. Heck, the Ducky Dale logo someone posted is better than the featured one.
The Ducks messed up by having the season ticket holders help design the uniforms and by using Focus Groups. I live in LA as an actor and “lying” to get into Focus Groups is a great way to make extra cash. It’s the biggest scam in the city.
Have you ever seen a season ticket holder at a Mighty Ducks game? THEY HAVE NO FASHION SENSE!
The old uniforms were simple and they would have remained classy but now they have created a minor league look for an NHL team.
The new owners are just trying to put their stamp on the team and they’ve created a “Halloween” uniform design that is weak and already out of date.
If you are a Mighty Ducks fan, please don’t buy any of the new gear. It’s depressing.
Anaheim should have hired Paul Lukas to make some “slight” adjustments to the design.

absolutely, that would have to be wrong mathematically. 20 yards x 40 snaps is 800 yards, or less than 1/2 mile (1 mile = 1760 yd)
So it may be about 20-25 pounds, if you accept the 55 pounds per mile estimate. It could very well be accurate in aggregate, since a marching step is about 1/1000 of a mile (62.5 pounds), and a running gait is likely longer than that. Eh, anyway, that 520 pounds thing is way off.

I’d take the LI ducks unis any day. They’re like the original (first incarnation, around the turn of the century) Ottawa Sens jerseys.
Totally off subject, but i was at the Pawtucket-Columbus game tonight and all the Clippers were wearing high socks, totally awsome. Anyone know if thats Clipper tradition?

I believe that all Yankees minor leaguers are required to wear high socks…but I’m not completely sure…
The new Ducks’ uniforms show just how out of touch the NHL is. The Ducks could have really capitalized by creating some buzz with really nice new uniforms. Maybe going with an old school design; I would suspect that the Red Wings, Maple Leafs, and Canadains are amoung the best sellers of all NHL teams. The Ducks look liked they rushed the entire process (not even an secondary logo?) and the results are very plain and not exciting.
However, I can hardly wait for the ALL GOLD alternate. You know its coming!
This thread is ENTIRELY too long…but I’ll add my piece to the pile.
Remember back in 1995, when Jacksonville came into the NFL? I wish I could find some pictures, but their original jerseys were teal, white, and jaguar print on the shoulders. Their logo was this long jumping jaguar type thing. But as long as I remember, those jerseys never saw the field, as the jaguar print never made it out, replaced by gold and black striping on the arms.
Maybe if we whine and complain enough about Anaheim’s new jersey, they’ll change it to that simple D logo. Even better, make it the “mallard colors” like someone already suggested. That is seriously a obviously simple, yet genius idea.
Besides, their owners are brand new and they come from Orange County. No wonder they don’t know anything about hockey jersey history. :oP

The jaguars original helmet before changing, for example, is above.
i kind of like the ducks uniforms. Didnt they hust get new uniforms this year for the Mighty ducks. i likie the post on chris creamers forum of the D alone that looks alot better
Minnesota clearly has the best alternate jersey. In fact, e… link is my favorite jersey in the leagu
Eh, I think Buffalo’s are the best, just because its actually a SABRES logo and not a…buffalo.
Why do the sports teams in Buffalo continue to have buffalos on them when their named something else? At least the AAA baseball’s Bisons have it right!
Why doesn’t the NHL have throwback uniforms as much as baseball does? Wouldn’t it be great to see Anaheim dress in the California Golden Seals jerseys from 1967 link ? Or maybe see the Penguins play in blue?
Ahh…only in dreams.
P.S. Can someone email me on how to post links in text here?
all yankee minor leauge teams must wear high socks, AA Trenton(NJ) Thunder always sport high green socks and it looks most excellent. come to think of it, most NJ minor leauge teams have the high socks this also includes the Blueclaws(Phillies)
I’m not positive, but I think Jacksonville went a way from their “lunging” jaguar logo because of a legal run-in with Jaguar, the car company. If you look at Jacksonville’s original logo, the jaguar is in an almost identical position to the car company’s logo.
The nike “ring” on the Ghana player is used in the NBA quite often. It is a piece of dri-fit fabric, that is used to prevent jamming or dislocating your finger.

This is true. Ford never actually sued the team, but I think they issued a cease-and-desist warning, so the logos were redesigned before the team ever took the field.
The team even named Jaguar their official car or something as a goodwill gesture.
i really think milledge’s armbands are orange.
they don’t look red to me.

I just noticed today that England has each jersey personalized with the date and opponent on them. Kind of a nice touch if you ask me. But I had not seen anybody else make any mention of it.

I found this older photo with a better close up-

Holland has their flag and their opponent’s flag under their logo for every match [well, not anymore].
Flat style is a college thing. Its like the north face fleece and jean skirts with spandex underneath. It is what college kids do. College players that are in the show now sometimes continue to support the straight bill.
I think it is awesome, it is the way the game should be played.
Most top teams in CWS the past few years have been from SoCal. It’s a SoCal look that got a lot of tv time.
Also, ever wear an old hat that has become so soft that it dosen’t hold a curve? Look at some of these hats, they are mesh and from other (Not New Era) manufactuers and have been worn daily for almost a year.
the “bandage” in question is a nike finger sleeve. they are sold for use by basketball players, although they really have no purpose.
You wanna Ducks jersey?
Here’s your ——- Ducks jersey!

The NHL does have flashback nights.
The Penguins have played recently in powder blue.
The Maple Leafs do it all the time; one of their alternates has the old maple leaf logo.
The Vancouver Canucks brought back the old hockey stick logo jerseys …
And the Bruins dredged up one of their “Original Six” sweaters.
Even the Rangers have played recently in their god-awful mid-70’s jerseys.

But here’s one throwback jersey I hope never to see again:

Go Fishsticks!
Mighty Yucks. Man that logo is the pits.
I have preached to all the beloved Creamite “wannabees” that hcokey jerseys should only have crests (like the partial duck foot) but alas those geniuses think differently.
So again it goes…O’Grady shoots and scores. T 1 Wannabees 0.
I’m the one that did up that “D†logo jersey,(WHO CARES) although I imagine that a lot of people were thinking the same thing beforehand. It’s sad that 2 minutes on Photoshop produces a better result than 6-8 months of planning by a professional design firm.
Where were you BEFORE they designed this trainwreck?
And did you design the D? Monday morning QB designer?
T.
It is a fingerstrap, for jammmed fingers and is used in the NBA too. I couldn’t find any pictures, but i know Allen Iverson wears one. Any help?
