If I were that record label in Richmond, I’d be wondering why the Calgary Flames haven’t sued them for infringement yet (see the caps in the background while the owner is interviewed). They have a lot more solid case than the Guardians do.

    And there’s a Richmond Braves knock-off as well…link

You’re right. Ripping off the Guardians should be the least of their worries.

I believe the Guardians retained the copyrights from the former team name. This logo directly uses the block C they used.

It’s not the exact same. The old Cleveland C has narrower horizontal strokes and thinner strokes overall, not to mention lacking an outline. That’s not meant to absolve the record company, as they easily could have been “inspired” by the Cleveland C, as they clearly were “inspired” by other marks for other merch.

Came here for this! I laughed out loud when the owner was defending the fact that he doesn’t poach logos, all while the Calgary Flames logo was clear as day on two hats behind him.

A professional hockey team that previously wore sweaters without a sweater advertiser … teams up with an advertiser to be a sweater advertiser … only to cover up said sweater advertiser … to look like it didn’t solicit said sweater advertiser … depending on where said sweater with the sweater advertiser is physically worn.

You can’t make this stuff up. -C.

That Block C looks like the one on my High School letterman’s jacket from 42 years ago…I’ll have to notify my high school to sue as well :-P

Can’t believe you buried the lede on that Coyotes picture. Look at the Flyers wearing Cooperalls (or whatever they’re called these days)!

I don’t think the Guardians have a case since he’s been using it since 2015, HOWEVER that “Charged up, VA to the Bay” (1:24 mark) looks very similar to the “1989 Battle of the Bay” World Series logo
