Guess The Game…
…From The Scoreboard
Today’s scoreboard comes from Roger McWalters.
The premise of the game (GTGFTS) is simple: I’ll post a scoreboard and you guys simply identify the game depicted. In the past, I don’t know if I’ve ever completely stumped you (some are easier than others).
Here’s the Scoreboard. In the comments below, try to identify the game (date & location, as well as final score). If anything noteworthy occurred during the game, please add that in (and if you were AT the game, well bonus points for you!):
Please continue sending these in! You’re welcome to send me any scoreboard photos (with answers please), and I’ll keep running them.
Mets at Phillies,Sunday, April 7, 1974.
I Miss The Vet.
Wow – Larry Bowa batting 2nd and Mike Schmidt 8th. Schmidt eventually worked his way up the order, only batting 8th 17 times that season. Bowa started 161 games, and batted second in all of them. (He was actually above average offensively for a shortstop that year, but was still the Phillie’s second worst regular at the plate.)
On April 24th, Schmidt batted 8th for the last time. On April 25th, he was in the 3 slot…

Very even batting averages implied probably game 2 or 3 of season. Looked at opening day lineups and found Boone was only the catcher in 1974 and 1975.
Sucker for dot-matrix caricatures of ball players, even moreso when some of the light bulbs are burnt out!
Here’s video of Schmitty’s walk-off HR that day!
