Last weekend, the Great White North, aka America’s Hat, played their equivalent of the USA’s Super Bowl, the “Grey Cup.” I used to love the CFL, but through circumstances not worth describing, I haven’t been able to watch much recently — but I did get to watch the 100th Edition of the Grey Cup last weekend (or at least, I watched up until the Giants crushed the Packers). I even watched the halftime show, but that’s only because it featured one of the greatest Canadian artists of all time, and no, I’m not talking about Bieber. But I digress…
Our guest writer today is a gentleman who resides in Calgary, and who has worked with me a couple of times on articles, and who I fondly referred to as “my buddy” even though we’d actually never met. Until the November 3rd Uni Watch Gathering, that is, when Mike Styczen (that’s him in this photo) and I met for the first time — Mike was in town for the NYC Marathon, which was cancelled at the last minute. I regret not spending more time chatting it up with Mike, but we did discuss plans for a post on the Grey Cup — and that’s what is in store for you today.
So kick back ladies and gents, while Mr. Styczen takes us through the…
Grey Cup 2012
By Mike Styczen
The 100th Grey Cup was held this past weekend in Toronto.
Of course the Grey Cup is now the championship of the Canadian Football League, but over the past 100 years it has been won by a variety of military teams, university teams, and assorted amateur teams.
This year’s game was played in the Rogers Centre. Although best known as an increasingly outdated baseball stadium, the road to getting a dome built started not with baseball but with the 1982 Grey Cup. That game was played 30 years in terrible freezing rain at old Exhibition Stadium. After thousands of fans watched that game from in a driving rainstorm, and a variety of politicians watched it from the uncovered stands, momentum built towards getting a modern dome built on the downtown waterfront, resulting in the construction of SkyDome
Anyway, onto the game.
The hometown Toronto Argonauts won their record 16th Grey Cup (out of 22 appearances), beating the Calgary Stampeders (who have now won 6 Grey Cups in 13 appearances. The final score was 35-22 in a game that wasn’t nearly that close or particularly memorable. As usual, in one of sports’ great traditions the Grey Cup was brought to the field near the end of the game by Mounties to be presented to the winners.
Halftime entertainment was provided by Canadian icon Gordon Lightfoot, two bands I’ve never heard of, and (I am not making this up) Justin Bieber, who was booed mercilessly. I could link to a picture of Bieber at the Grey Cup, but this one of him getting an award from the Prime Minister is funnier.
Uniforms: Reebok completely redesigned the CFL this year, and (as a Calgary fan this pains me to say), they got Toronto’s uniform just about perfect. Traditional pants striping, simple block numbers with no outlines or drop shadows, actual sleeve striping reminiscent of the early 1970s, perfect use of the iconic double-blue. Nothing goofy. Perfect. Toronto has experimented with some oddball looks in the past, and now they seem to have it gotten it just about right. If it were up to me I’d go back to the simple helmet logo as well but this one is just fine.
Calgary, on the other hand, is doing everything wrong these days. Once upon a time, they looked good, but with the first Reebok redesign five or six years ago, things started to go wrong, and the current look has just about everything wrong with it. Black road helmets (the home helmets are still red), a weird pointy number font, double outlined numbers, double outlined letters, a red shoulder yoke, a strange smudge of a shoulder logo. There’s not a redeeming thing about the current set other than the red home helmet (which is mercifully unchanged).
Though, I guess if there’s any consolation to be had, they didn’t screw Calgary’s road set up as badly as Edmonton’s.
I’ll also take this opportunity to remind all my American friends that the CFL still has the best looking officials, hands down.
Anyway, next year’s Grey Cup is in Regina, who always put on a great party and whose fans are second to none in the league.
Thanks, Mike. As I said above, I did watch most of the game, and of course, I agree with you about the Argo’s unis, except for the adverts. But as far as the shoulder and pants stripes, and the colo(u)rs, that’s a beaut, eh? Now…I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I don’t hate the Stamps’ look (aside from the uni adverts, of course). And, I’m not normally a fan of yokes, either. But the black and red worked well (aren’t they sorta the default colors of Canadian sports teams?), and I didn’t even mind the funky outlined number fonts (although I detest the black side panels on the home reds).
Best thing aboot Canadian football, however, is the fact that it’s pretty much totally unlike the version we play down in the lower 48. Three downs instead of four, like ten guys in motion (and I think there’s even about 12 or 13 per side on the field at a time), and there is even the rouge, where you can actually get a point for a missed field goal (or something like that). Fun to watch — lots of action and way different strategy. Wish they broadcast more games here (or I should say, I wish my cable system carried more games). Good time, eh?
And now, give a listen to one of the most underrated songs in the history of ever, what some might even consider the Canadian National Anthem…
50 Years Ago…This Weekend
Last year, Rick Pearson took us “back in time” to bring us his look at the featured television college football match-up from 50 years ago. (If you’re not familiar with it, this was the inaugural post of “50 Years Ago” from last year — after that, it became a recurring feature on UW for the remainder of the season). Last year, Rick looked at the 1961 season, and fortunately for us, he “uni tracked” the games from 1962 as well, documenting the game via his “kid cards”. Each week this fall, he’ll do the same, again.
All kinds of “uni specials” for this one…Navy added stirrups under their crews, NOB of jerseys, a Jolly Roger decal to the front of their helmets (a nod to quarterback Roger Staubach) and Chinese characters for “Beat Army” to the sides. The last was a counterpoint to Army coach Paul Dietzel’s “Chinese Bandits,” his defense specialists team. Dietzel also had a White Team, which played both ways, and a Go Team, which was the offensive specialists (this was first made famous earlier when Dietzel coached LSU during the Billy Cannon era)…Army added white stirrups and crews with a black band at the top (no, not a striped stirrup), white cleats and a small “BEAT NAVY” patch to the right sleeve. My color is a little off; the Cadets’ pants should be more Old Gold…Typical of Army-Navy players, neither Stewart nor Parcells went on to pro football, but Parcells’ brother did become a Giant Tuna.
Thanks Rick! Great job with that as always. And interesting to note that not only did the 1962 season start two weeks later than the 2012 season, it also “ended” a week sooner, with the final, traditional end-of-season Army/Navy game taking place a week before the current one will. Of course, it was also the last Army/Navy game JFK would watch, although no one knew it at the time. Update: Here’s a bit more on that Jolly Roger helmet.
Uni Tweaks Concepts
We have another new set of tweaks, er…concepts today. After discussion with a number of readers, it’s probably more apropos to call most of the reader submissions “concepts” rather than tweaks. So that’s that.
So if you’ve concept for any sport, or just a tweak or wholesale revision, send them my way.
Please do try to keep your descriptions to ~50 words (give or take) per image — if you have three uniform concepts in one image, then obviously, you can go a little over, but no novels, OK? OK!. You guys have usually been good with keeping the descriptions pretty short, and I thank you for that.
Like the colorizations, I’m going to run these as inline pics — click on each one to enlarge.
And so, lets begin:
First up is Christopher Wheeler with some Dirty Birds:
“Mizzou inspired Atlanta Falcons”
Home with default pants and Home with alt pants
Away with default pants and Away with alt pants
Alt with default pants and Alt with alt pants
The helmets would look more like this rather than the one in the pics above.
Next up is Coleman Mullins, who has an update to the tweak to WVU that appeared last weekend:
Phil,
Hey guys, real late submission addition, but I couldn’t resist. This was the first version Tim E. sent me, which is pretty much exactly like the sketch I sent him. It wouldn’t fly too well with most traditionalists, so he tweaked it to the final one I sent you earlier. I just had to send this one in as well because I really do like it.
I’ve also attached my sketch, for giggles and what not.
Coleman
And our last tweaker today is Jason V., with some new looks for the fish mammals…
Hey Phil-
With all the talk about a possible “tweak” for the Dolphins in 2013…I thought I’d take a crack at it.
Thanks,
Jason V
And that’s it for today. Back with more next time.
“Benchies” first appeared at U-W in 2008, and has been a Saturday & Sunday feature here for the past two years.
Well, damn, way to be a Scrooge about it…

Stirrup Fridays…
Because we love the stirrup here at Uni Watch, this section is devoted to those of us who sport the beautiful hose on Fridays — a trend popularized many years ago by Robert P. Marshall, III. For many of us, it’s become a bit of an obsession, but a harmless one — a reflection of our times. Where we once had Friday ties, which has been replaced by Casual Friday — we now have Stirrup Fridays. It’s an endearingly simple concept — no matter where you work (or even if you don’t) — break out a fresh pair of rups to compliment (or clash with) your Friday attire.
Continuing with the special sets again, since Comrade Marshall has graciously offered the UW rup as a *weekly* prize in the Stirrup Fridays ensemble. So, let’s have a look at the selections this week, and at the end, the winner will be announced*:
Ray Wroblewski:
Hi Phil
I think these “M” stirrups are the ones Glen Perkins of the Twins needs to wear with that “M” hat. I should go to a Twins game and throw them to him in the bullpen. Creamsicle socks thrown in because you guys appreciate such things.
Ray
Mike Wilson:
Phil & RPM:
I’ve been wearing stirrups on Fridays since April 1st, 2011. I had just recently purchased the ’62 Mets prototype stirrups from the club, and I decided to wear them on the Mets’ opening day. My goal was to wear a different pair or sani combination for an entire year. (I did it and tracked my progress with photos on Facebook.)
Four weeks into my year I was going to be in Jamaica on vacation. The Friday of the trip just happened to be Earth Day. I decided what better way to incorporate my vacation, Earth Day, and Stirrup Friday than to wear green ‘rups on the beach with no sanitaries. So I packed my green stirrups and brought them all the way to Jamaica with me.
Mike Wilson
Greg Niforos:
Hey Phil,
I finally decided to send in a few stirrup pics. I love to wear some striped stirrups for any race I do, like last weeks Turkey Trot in my sweet Golden Gopher ”˜rups, and in my summer kickball and softball leagues, sadly no pics. My family chides me on my stirrup fascination so I decided to take it to the max and make up some stirrup stockings for Christmas, Spartan green and Hoosier red for the season!
Greg
Chris LaBella, Jr.
Phil & Robert,
Hi attached is a picture of my son Chris Jr who is 9 wearing Mr. Marshall’s Cardinals stirrups. He played in the Half Hollow Hills NY fall 10u league for the Deer Park Destroyers. In this game he struck out 12 and gave up one hit in 4 2/3. He had to leave due to a 75 pitch count limit that is enforced by the league. All the kids loved the rups btw!!
Chris LaBella Sr.
James Poisso:
Phil,
Happy Stirrup Friday! These Tampa Smoker stirrups made for great Black Friday stirrups last week.
Thanks to being on vacation, I didn’t get a chance to send the picture.
James
Pete Woychick:
Hi Phil””
I understand that I am ineligible for further prizes in the stirrup contest, and that’s all well and good.
Seized by a revolutionary fervor, however, I had a few additional thoughts on the subject, which I submit here for the entertainment and indoctrination of all.
Thanks!
””Pete
John K.:
Phil,
Wearing the ’69 Seattle Pilots stirrups today. I have lived more years in the Northwest than I did as a kid growing up in Baltimore, so these are the ‘rups that I wear to Mariners games (unless the Orioles are in town). These also happens to be the colors of the local high school, and my older son wore them (with shorts) during spirit week last month, a photo of which made the front page of the (very) local paper. The revolution works in mysterious ways.
And yes, those are gore tex pants bloused for the photo.
John K
And that ends today’s look at Stirrup Friday — all of you who participate, send me your pics and a brief (~50 words) description of their relevance, and I’ll run ’em here on Saturday (and sometimes Sunday too!).
* And who will be the winner of this week’s UW rup giveaway? Stay tuned. The winner will be revealed tomorrow. Why tomorrow? Because the leader of the revolution, Comrade Marshall, is on a well-deserved vacation in his beloved Ballmer (knocking back a few Natty Boh’s no doubt), so he’ll have his decision on this week’s winner on Sunday.
If you’re not a member of Stirrup Nation and want to join, just visit Comrade Marshall’s house of hose (and you can see the available selections here) or if you have any questions about the availability of stirrups, drop him a line at rpmarshallart@gmail.com.
So, comrades — why don’t you pick up a pair or three and show us your rups!
OK? OK!
Back tomorrow with this week’s winner.
And that will do it for this fine first day of December. Not too much on the NCAA front today, but there are, of course, a few conference champeenships among the several. All roads lead to the Army/Navy game next weekend.
Thanks to Mike Styczen for that Grey Cup writeup, and all the concepters and members of Stirrup Nation (and of course, Ricko, for his seasonlong efforts on 50 Years Ago and Benchies). Catch you guys tomorrow.
“If you choose to believe that Uni Watch is part of some conspiratorial ‘war on Christmas,’ feel free to report me to Bill O’Reilly.”
–Paul, on why he tends to use “Christmas” when referring to the religious holiday and “Xmas” when referring to all the pop-cultural and non-religious stuff that’s an outgrowth of the holiday.
I really like Jason V’s Dolphins logo.
And his unis. Great number font. My only quibble is that the uneven dark blue in the logo almost makes it look like the sun is shaded on one side. Which is shouldn’t be, being the sun and all. But I’m not sure that counts as constructive, since I suspect that the navy element needs to be asymmetrical to work at all. Anyway, one of my favorite NFL concepts that I’ve seen here.
I’ll miss the massive drop shadows if the Dolphins get rid of them. I think they’re ugly, but they define the Dolphins for me, and they’re the only team whose uni I’ll accept them on.
Should say: other than that, great concept. Miami fans will be lucky to end up with something at that level.
Yeah, that would be a great look for them. Modernizing without turning their back on tradition. I can’t imagine Nike doing a better job. Maybe the number font but as unique fonts go, that one is a winner. Kudos!
I was thrilled to see an in-depth review of the Grey Cup this morning. I’m a big CFL fan and believe if it got more attention here in the US (i.e. NBC SportsNet airing more than 10 or 12 games per year), many Americans would become fans too. I could be wrong, but I can’t imagine that the rights fees to air all the games could be terribly expensive?
Anyway, the game has some exciting elements that our game doesn’t have, like the Rouge, or Single. This video best shows how the Rouge can alter the end of a game….
link
It’s probably not too expensive, but I wonder if the NFL might have something to say about the CFL trying to increase its visibility in the US.
The NFL in general have actively supported the CFL, they see it as being a bit of a feeder system. The league is so far off the radar from where the NFL is, that it could grow 100 times in popularity in the US, and still be barely register a pin prick to the NFL. So I would say the NFL would actually like more CFL exposure into the US (it makes it a strong feeder system), an example of this is prior to the NBC Sports Network carrying games, the NFL network was.
Good job Mike, I’m in the camp that the Stamps uni is an unfortunate mess.
Great clip. I can only imagine how weird that looked to someone who’s never watched Canadian football.
Every missed field goal isn’t a rouge – its got to go out of the back of the end zone or be downed in the end zone – which is why the Montreal kicker punched it extra-hard (I don’t think he cared if it went through or not) and why the two Toronto players were at the back of the end zone to keep it from going out.
You see lots of teams running missed field goals out of the end zone to avoid the rouge, but kicking it out only happens at the end of the half for obvious reasons. Its definitely weird to see three or four players back (including the placekicker and punter) back to cover a missed field goal.
Jason V — love the reimagined Dolphins logo. Wouldn’t mind seeing that emerge from the re-design. My biggest problem with your overall design is the number font. I’m a traditionalist on that front. Good work, though!
Kudos to Mike on a great view into the Grey Cup and CFL. Just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Good job Mike on CFL. I know it is harder to watch these days. Glad NBCSports showed some games.
Does anybody know if any other team uses a double color like Toronto’s double blue? Any double red or double green?
Offhand I can not think of any. Toronto’s double blue is a great look.
Tennessee Titans.
If Red palette verison could be seen as red and orange, then the creamsicle Bucs.
Depending on where you draw the line between “blue” and “teal/aqua/etc”, the Seahawks previous uniforms could count as well.
Isn’t the Dallas Mavs, more or less double blue with some silver? Same with the BobCats?
It was boon or bust with the new CFL unis this year, three beauts in Hamilton, Toronto and BC, the others are mostly horrendous.
Ya how did I miss the Titans. But again blue.
it’s not intentional, of course, but the jets use two different shades of green
Nothing much in the NCAA front today?
A certain 1-AA school from nearby Staten Island is traveling to Eastern Washington to play on the red turf?
I will be watching this game on ESPN3 at 6PM before I leave to see my favorite band at Brendan Byrne/Continental Airlines/Izod Center!
link use a variety of greens. Beautifully, I might add.
If you are looking for double blue in any sport and not just football – hockey at least a few examples
NHL – Winnipeg Jets and 3rds for the Blue Jackets, Penguins, etc.
CHL – Chicoutimi Saguenéens and Saskatoon Blades. Best example from the CHL was the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors when they were around.
I’m still calling it SkyDome! Great write-up on Le Coupe Grey today Mike! I SO wanted to go to a Ti-Cats game this year, only 3.5 hour drive (on the 401, aka Hypnosis Highway) from home. Alas, I never could get my schedule to meet up with a Hamilton home game. Perhaps in 2014…
If you make it up in 2013, they’ll be playing in Guelph, stadium is being rebuilt, part of a mini-wave of new stadiums for the CFL, a league that in a lot of cities missed several generations of stadiums.
SkyDome is the league’s newest stadium and it opened in 1989.
Winnipeg opens a new stadium on the U of Manitoba campus next year – according to a cousin who works next door, its a beauty. Its about a rouge from my old apartment.
link
Hamilton also has a stadium in the works. Ottawa may have one under construction as well for a new team to start play in 2014 (?).
B.C. dumped a metric shitload of money into renovating BC Place after the Olympics. Seriously, in the neighbourhood of half a billion dollars to renovate the bowl and do a retractable roof. The place is stunning, and a great place to watch a game (the MLS team plays there as well).
link
And as much as I love Regina, I don’t think they could deal with a new stadium.
link
Montreal’s McGill Stadium was renovated a couple of years ago as well. I think the biggest needs will be Regina’s and while I’ve never been to McMahon Stadium in Calgary, it looks about done? I’m pretty sure Ottawa’s is under construction – and will be quite nice.
They renovated Molson Stadium? Don’t tell me they took out that tree that was growing in the stands?
/kill McGill
LOVE that Dolphins concept.. Good Job Jason V. I especially dig the logo update and helmet stripe. I wouldn’t change a thing. If only Nike and Dolphins management felt the same way :(
Uniforms and Lightfoot. What a way to start a Saturday!

Some truly awful news out of Kansas City this morning:
link
I think it’s safe to assume this guy isn’t getting a uni memorial.
OK, according to some Arrowhead Pride users, the player in question is apparently Jovan Belcher.
Just feel terrible for the innocent families caught in the middle of all this.
wow, what a bad story. Panthers haven’t left Carolina yet- the game could be postponed it seems.
Horrible news, and somewhat similar to the crime decades ago
when Jim Tyrer murdered his wife and killed himself. Tyrer was retired for a few years, and was a future hall of fame inductee. Had some financial problems among other issues, and that contributed to the tragedy.
Bob Fescoe might find some perspective.
well…depends who you consider more tasteless…the buyers or the sellers…then again Ray Lewis still plays and he’s a murderer

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I’ve written for the site about 10 times now, and I can’t tell you how much fun it is to research and write a piece. Because its such a visual blog, you get to spend a bunch of time hunting for photos and you learn a ton. I can’t recommend enough – if there’s something you enjoy writing about, let Phil know.
I agree on the advertising patches – they do look like crap. But I readily admit that the CFL isn’t big-time and its more than happy to take any dollar it can. I don’t remember the last time a franchise sold but I’d guess value of each franchise is well under $10m. The whole league is built on some pretty shaky finances and I don’t think too many teams are long-term stable.
Totally off-topic…
Has anyone else noticed that the Mets’ new blue alternate jerseys being sold on the team shop website, the authentics have the 2013 All-Star Game patch on the left sleeve, while the replicas have it on the right sleeve? Is this how they’re being made, sold in stores, etc.? I haven’t actually seen one yet, but this seems rather odd.
White cleats as early as 1962! In your recollection, Ricko, is that the earliest use?
Somewhere in the Ricko Files I have a photo of Massillon High School Tigers wearing white cleats in, I believe, 1960 or so.
Pretty sure that’s the earliest I recall seeing them.
Ah-ha! Thought I posted it here. From February, 2009…
link
Dang. That’s wild. I thought for certain that Joe “Willie” would’ve been the first.
Something tells me that the ealier uses weren’t worn for the cool, anti-authoritarian look, though.
Awesome Massillon Tigers action shot.
when joe willie wore *white* cleats (the first time) with bama, they weren’t really white, right — just so spatted they appeared white?
Yep, lotta white tape over black Pumas.
Started with the Jets that way, too.
When asked about the white cleats he eventually began wearing, Namath said, “Weeb ordered ’em. Saves tape.”
How about the tiger stripes down the pants.
From the Massillon Museum website:
“1958 introduced Coach Leo Strong to Massillon football. He was a football trendsetter; he introduced decals on helmets, colored football shoes, uniforms with multi-color stripes, v-neck jerseys with triple stripes and outlined numbers.”
i think those are more appropriately called “tiled stripes” (think the owls or the warriors) but yes…those look good

Spectacular.
I wouldn’t say Sundown is our unofficial national anthem (and would you really want an anthem based on a breakup with Cathy Evelyn Smith — yes, that Cathy Evelyn Smith — anyhow?). Canadian Railroad Trilogy, on the other hand…
(And for the record: The rouge is a point conceded on a legal kick into the end zone other than a successful FG that does not result in the ball being returned or kicked out of the end zone. In other words: take a touchback on a kickoff, punt, or missed FG and concede a point rather than getting a free spot downfield. We CFL fans look at the NFL’s ridiculous dance to down the ball on the one and laugh.)
Good work on the CFL. I’ve seen a few games, in Pittsburgh we’re close enough to the Canadian border (about five hours via Niagra Falls) that WBGN, the local independent station, once played CFL games down here, usually with the closest CFL team to here, the Hamilton TigerCats. With certain AM radios you can pull in CHML, the radio flagship of the TigerCats. (They happen to share their colors with a certain NFL team down here. Coincidence?) I guess you could say Western PA is TigerCats territory as far as the CFL is concerned.
Hamilton is also Canada’s Steel Town….so it also shares that in common with Pittsburgh. Both are historically very blue collar cities.
Two huge steel mills in Hamiltion – Stelco and Dofasco. 60% of Canada’s steel is manufactured there.

Any updates on what Ottawa’s third CFL team will be called?
superfluous
They should be called the Rough Riders. Always fascinating that for a league that had fewer teams than the Big East at its best, it had TWO teams called Rough Riders. (Although Saskatchewan is spelled out in one word.) It could be worse, like the SEC having THREE teams called the Tigers–I think LSU should keep the Tigers nickname while Auburn and Mizzou find something else. But I digress…
Phil – Even with the right logo I don’t think they will go with that name; Ottawa already has a team named after something superfluous – the Senate of Canada.
Joseph – Won’t be the Rough Riders; one of the conditions on Ottawa rejoining the CFL [Rough Riders would have followed Montreal’s example after folding twice though – original name, another name, original name]

So did I. Those last two are tough.
Got 19/20. I did figure out the last two (very tough indeed) but could not figure out the black and yellow horse for the life of me.
just added (in the 50 years section) an update on those jolly roger helmets (from helmet hut)
let’s see…toronto played in the 100th grey cup @ toronto…as part of the festivities, they had a bunch of canadians play pre-game, halftime, etc…
but, there’s one band, one of the greatest of all time, with 3 stellar musicians that other musicians try to emulate, who have outsold almost every band in history, and who are now, finally, getting props for their work and being recognized by the rock ‘n’ roll hall of fame (which is a joke, i realize)…and this band is not only from toronto area, they wrote a song about their airport designation, “yyz” for toronto…
so, why no RUSH???
(using yyz to cut to commercial during the game doesn’t count…)
Like this look on the Mountaineers too, Coleman. LGM!
Thanks! It certainly beats any GFGS, I think.
I like the dog bone stickers on the Georgia Bulldogs helmets, and think it would be cool for the Cleveland Browns to do something like this. Question: Are stickers on helmets allowed in the NFL?
no
No. Plus you can’t forget the minor detail they aren’t in high school.
The Miami Heat are wearing their completely white Xmas unis while many players on the Nets are wearing red headbands and sneakers. What the hell?
The white Heat jerseys are just for fun, their Christmas jerseys are solid red…
truth = sadface.
The Nets’ red shooting tops (being worn on the bench) have a white NBA “Jerry West Silhouette” logo on the front and “NBA Cares” logo just below the neck on the back. Nothing suggests they or any other red worn by Brooklyn is Nets specific….
Found out that the red is in commemoration of World AIDS Day.
gotta love eBay people!

Wisconsin-Green Bay goes BFBS for men’s basketball game at Virginia. Looks bad. link
RIP rick majerus
In a Uni-watch-esque connection, perhaps the best known anecdote about Majerus involves him just wearing a towel.
In this day of great alternate uniforms and chrome helmets and uniforms with letters on the front instead of numbers and BFBS and all the other “candied up” nonsense, even you traditionalists have to admit the B1G Championship game looks like a intersquad game. Every time I look up at the screen I have to think for a second which team is Wisconsin and which is Nebraska. If ever a game screamed out for a little differentiation, it would be this one.
Although it seems a good rule of thumb is the team scoring all the touchdowns in Wisconsin.
welcome to the B1G, huskers
this game looks great, and if i were doing the 5&1 it would easily be the GOOD #1
either that or bama/uga
Awesome Miami dolphins uniform. That should be their new one.
I like those WVU unis. The numbers being colored while the pants and helmet are white is unconventional, but I think it works in this case.
One thing I noticed, is that even though the penalty flags are red, the graphic on TV when a flag was thrown, was yellow.
