Oh, those French. Snooty, snobby and ummm … sassy? Eh, probably not sassy. Regardless, these skinny lads are the medalists in the mountain bike race. The two Frenchmen on the left are not the beneficiaries of a particularly lively kit, are they?
France’s flag is red, white, and blue. These guys are red, white, and blue. Well, that’ll do, I guess. Probably better than these, though. — Bryan
not particularly, but slightly different kits. wonder why the difference.
Not to be all pedantic about it, but the French flag is not red, white and blue; it is blue, white and red. R/W/B would be the USA, link (yes, I’m too obsessed with flags).
and of course, the French hate when their flag is referred to as red, white, and blue – and the gold medal winner’s isn’t that bad really
It seems the Cleveland Browns brown pants experiment is over! according to todays Plain Dealer, the vote on the teams web site was 60 % thumbs down ( out of 6000 votes) on the pants. The Browns vice president of communications states; “We have no plans to wear them again.”
Thank god the Brownies won’t be wearing them! all they gotta do is add one stripe to side of those brown pants and they would be amazing!
On another note, Has anyone noticed the sweet logo for Republicans for Obama: link
I like how the Elephant is just streamlined right into his original logo. sorry dont want to start a political war or anything just noticed it this morning.
Is that guy on the right part of the medical staff?

Of course every potential presidential candidate says they “have no plans to run” right up until they decide to run. It’s just a semi-clever way of saying “we’re not developing a plan right now…but that doesn’t mean we won’t start planning tomorrow.”
So don’t be too surprised if the Browns give people enough time to forget about the poll and them announce, “Now we have plans to wear brown pants…and it’ll be next week! I know,” they might say, “we’re just as surprised as you are!”
Shame though- Even without the stripe they would look very nice with the white striped socks. With stripes is even better, But they flat out sucked with brown socks.
I’m hoping the do return- with stripes and white socks. That’s a beautiful look.
I really liked the brown pants but I agree (and I think most people would agree) with Jeff P; they would look awesome with white striped socks.
I must say, I find these French jerseys not bad at all. Attractive, even. If I was given one, I’d totally wear it.
i posted this last night, but Adrian Peterson wore a style of face mask that i had not seen previously. It was a Riddell and had a resemblance to the new mask that LT has been wearing. Both the bar across the top and right across the nose were somewhat slanted. I think it looked pretty ba.

Here is a good story about how the misspelling on Adam Everett’s jersey Saturday came to the attention of the Twins and the equipment staff. link
I was in Ann Arbor, Michigan yesterday and happened upon an antique store. My girlfriend and I went in and I spotted some awesome old U-M football programs. Way out of my price range (and I’m an MSU fan) but cool nonetheless. A few scans here, wish they had more though.

Would it be possible for an NFL player to wear a particular brand of helmet, and a facemask from a different manufacturer? I know at the NCAA level, helmets are fitted to players sans facemasks, and the facemasks are added later… but since colleges usually have a single helmet/facemask manufacturer, there’s not an opportunity to “mix-and-match”, so to speak…
I it was meant sarcastically, but the Swiss medalist is not part of the medical team.
In fact, his jersey is the flag. I love it.

yea that is really similar, the only noticable difference between the two is the bar right above his eyes slant down towards his nose. (im not from spain)
Not sure if this is uni-related, but watching the Mets-Astros game right now, the bat weight that looks like it;s made out of cork for the Astros has “Atlanta Braves” scribbled on it. The Braves were just in before the Astros – wonder if they left theirs behind…
Anyone else see this?

Here it goes:
The helmet is made by Riddell, as are most of the Vikings, however the facemask is defintely made by Schutt.
It is part of their “Moto-cross” inspired line.

No screen shot, but during the 8th inning of today’s Mets-Astros game a fan was shown wearing a Nolan Ryan era Astros jersey with a Nolan Ryan patch on the left sleeve. Keith Hernandez seemed very interested in it, but it was near impossible to read the writing on the patch

During my abbreviated time on my high school’s football team (knee injury), one of things I noticed was a lot of players wearing helmets with facemasks made for other helmets. Most of the time it ends up sticking out in odd ways or not fitting correctly, so I would assume that most NFL players would keep their helmets and facemasks on one brand.

My coach had an easy way of dealing with that… “I don’t care how cool it looks, wear the helmet you’re issued or don’t play!”

my prediction…all brown, no change in the pants (IOW, no striping)…but they’ll go with white socks … link … but link
hey…if we don’t see the brown pants again, then that’s a blessing, but imo guess they’re NOT one and done, despite any reassurances to the contrary

thanks tom…and it’s L.I. (as in lawn guyland) phil…
Someone mentioned it a few days ago, and I just saw them again on NBC’s wrap up for the Olympics tonight – the white on white NOB for the USA basketball unis (and black on black for the away unis). I figured it out, or maybe I hope I did. In professional sports, for the most part players play for the name on the back of the jersey, while in the Olympics, everyone plays for the name on the front of the jersey. I bet the IOC has a requirement that there must be NOB of the basketball jerseys, but probably never specified that they must be a visible, contrasting color. I hope this is the reasoning – the name on the FRONT being more important than the name on the back.
I have also heard of this used in high school and college sports, though many times it is also a monetary issue (not being able to replace a full uni set every year due to name changes).
Dodgers vs. Phillies: I don’t recall seeing so many high numbers outside of spring training. Manny Ramiriz and So Taguchi both wearing 99; Joe Beimel (97) pitching to Taguchi. Not that there’s anything wrong with it.
you usually do not put the same brand mask on the same brand helmet. schutt has pretty much made itself very much easy to use on a riddell head gear. when they started the reverse strapping system in the 80s it was easier to fit. after the green dot/red dot fiasco of previous. helmets come from the helmet maker with a mask, but most guys prefer the schutt mask. i am a former equipment manager and have done these first hand.
