I don’t know if this was really mentioned at all yesterday, but there was an interesting note from the Indiana-Illinois game on Thursday. Eric Gordon’s parents committed an ultimate uni faux-pas by wearing BLACK INDIANA UNIFORMS! what….the…HELL?! Also, it may have been the way her jersey folded over or something, but it looked like the first “I” was missing from Mrs. Gordon’s jersey for a good bit of the game. Maybe it was all of these uni mistakes that led Illini fans to throw stuff at the Gordons….

Bring back the vintage Pro Bowl uniforms!

Doesn’t sound like they have thought this all the way through. QB’s are QB’s are QB’s. #1 goes out, #2 goes in. What defensive position is designated? If it can be chosen, would any player who might play that spot get one too? What happens if the #2 defensive player is inserted in a different position along side #1? Personally, I really don’t care. Give ‘em all radio receivers, but that’s not the NFL’s style. They like to know exactly what everybody is doing all the time (videotaping not withstanding).

My problem isn’t so much a problem as a question: these things are usually said to “raise awareness” of breast cancer. Seriously – it’s 2008. Are there people who aren’t aware of this? Everybody knows a woman or many women, whether they’re relatives or friends. Can you honestly not be aware of breast cancer and how prevalent and deadly it is, by this point?

Now, you want to raise funds, I’m all about that. It’s a widespread and insidious disease. But I just question whether or not you really have to raise awareness. Maybe I’m wrong.

Has noticed the during the State Farm NFL commercial that has all the different clips and shots of offensive lineman from.
I noticed that the one o-lineman from the Bengals, I think its Anthony Munioz(?) anyways, the shot is a close up of him with his Bengals helmet on and if you look by his ear hole, there is actually a handwritten “69′ with a sharpie right on his helmet.
Now I don’t know if it is his number or a tribute or what but his number is hand written and it is pretty cool to see.

Here’s a good Nike story. Around 79 or so, Vitas Gerulaitis was wearing the Nike Wimbledon shoe. I wore those too- and in fact I was the first guy at my HS to wear Nikes- everyone called them NIKE with no long e, NIKE as in MIKE. No one knew! Vitas also wore some white socks with the swoosh and name on them- I thought they were cool, so I wrote Nike about them. They wrote me back and said “they had no plans to expand to a clothing line.” (!) But they sent me, free, three pair of plain tennis socks- one plain white, one with two lite blue stripes, and one with two green stripes, in Nike packaging with no logos on the socks.

Not sure. My guess on the year of the photo is 1984 (’83 season) for a couple of reasons. With Walsh coaching, it was, if not now(?) the custom the losing coach of the championship game got the Pro Bowl. Also, behind LT is a player with a ‘Skins helmet. I’m pretty sure its Charlie Brown. Brown made two PB’s, 1982 & 1983. His 1982 helmet would have had numbers on the back, this one doesn’t. So in search of your #5 patch, and official who died sometime in 1983-84.

The fundraising part of this is also big. I’m pretty sure the majority of these pink uniforms will be auctioned for charity. I went to the Yale women’s hockey game last night (Princeton won 2-1), and they were also selling pink Yale hockey t-shirts and wrist bands for charity.

Unfortunately, the neck openings on the pink jerseys was too big, so most of the Yale players had one shoulder pad sticking out.

If anyone is watching today’s Iowa State-Texas mens bb game, you will notice that both coaching staffs are participating in Think Pink day. This is because the wife of ISU coach Greg McDermott is a breast cancer survivor, and he was able to get Texas coach Rick Barnes to also participate. I think Ames is the only site where the men and women are hosting Think Pink games in the same day.

I was watching the Roma vs. Reggina match today and about 4 or 5 of Roma’s players, including Totti, were wearing something that looked like scarves on the pitch. Does anyone have pics or info as to what the heck these things are?
