Looks like Jason Cromer was wearing his stirrups backwards (higher opening in the front, instead of in the back) yesterday.

Backwards, frontwards, who cares? He wore ’em high. (Threw three shutout innings, too.)

Maybe I am going overboard but I feel like the white in the stirrups with road pants just does not go well. Then again the Royals are wearing so much white and gray there I guess it doesn’t matter.

i too will let his uni mistake pass. At least the kid is trying. I have noticed that there seems to be a growing number of younger players wearing their pant legs high. Hopefully this is the beginning of a trend to bring back high pant legs.

While I like the high socks, I don’t think it should be a requirement. I just like a good clean look. so if you wear the pant leg down, it can’t look like parachute pants (ie: man-ram and bar-oid)…

Agreed. Plus, if everyone had their pants this way it would take away from how clean it looks. The same applies to if the Chargers used the powder blues everyday. Yeah it would be nice, but eventually you would want something different.

I may be in the minority but i dont see whye veryone is bashing the new pajama bottom hemmed pants. As long as they are not worn like a skirt like manny wears em i think it looks a hell of a lot better then the ankle elastic which crumples the pants up right before the top of the shoe….and lets face it…even 15 years ago there were not too many players wearing real stirups so ithink this is an improvement.

I always thought that stirrups were intended to be symetrical and any front/back height deviation would be an accident.

I’ve noticed that alot of young players in the Royals camp are wearing stirrups w/ white sannies. When ESPN did the story on the player that is coming back from getting hit by a pitch, quite a few of the players in the piece were shown with stirrups. Do the Royals have a rule that says rookies must wear high socks? (I think the Cardinals have this as a rule)

I think if road teams wore grey sannies they would just dirty.

I coached little league for a number of years and we always had a team meeting after we handed out the uniforms to instruct the kids on such things as how to wear the stirrups. Cromer was obviously not on our team ;D

division ii championship on cbs has winona state wearing white and PURPLE and they kind of look like those new nike uniforms that are tight like ohio state’s but they arent

I pray that rumor about the Mets wearing less black this year is true. All spring, when they have worn their regular whites (instead of the BP blue jerseys), they’ve worn the black cap with the blue bill. Honestly, as a Mets fan, I think this might be the worst cap in baseball. It’s not just because I dislike black, the link isn’t terrible, because the logo is outlined in white. But the one they wear constantly is just so link You can’t even make out link at all during games. I’m totally with Paul, ditch the black!

is that cap style with the little thingy on the side going to used in regular season? we hope not.

Anyone know why the Tigers have been wearing their regular game jerseys during Spring Training?

I can live with the stirrups, despite them being backwards. I am currently searching for my own to wear this season due to the claim that they increase speed (something I can use since I lost the “S” in fast). Hahaha.

To inject a little hockey into today’s debate, I finished the three-part examination on all the patches worn by NHL teams. You can read all three link.

It’s not quite a Lukas-esque article, but there are a pile of patches in these three articles.

Is this some sort of parting shot by SI.com direct at David link If you can’t spot it, look below the belt…
Lookin good. But leave it up to the Royals to mess something like that up.
I understand that you both think he is good for tryin, but keep in mind, like gilbert with the undershirt the otherday, sometimes it comes down to comfort. I wore my stirups backwards too, b/c it was mor comfortable. the long peice in the back covering up the calf felt a little more natural. I would be there with them on backwards too.

Alot of teams have been doing this:
link, link, link (nice pants too), link, link, link, and the link, to name a few I found on ESPN. I love those link on Reyes too!

Will hopefully be going to an Iowa State baseball club double header tomorrow, will be on the lookout for UniWatch!

Uniforms aside, that was an amazing game with one of the most stunning finishes I have ever seen in a sporting event. WOW!

Orlando Hudson of the D-Baacks is going with the Willie McGee double ear-flap look against the Sox on WGN

I remember my first tee ball season in kindergarten (played in Palatine league even though I lived in Arlington Heights) I was on the Royals and it marked the only year I was issued stirrups as an official uniform peace. Even though it was the cheap looking stirrups of just one thin stirrup and not like the one worn above. In high school we had a public league “Bush League” (as we called it) and nearly 95% of the players wore the sox high (sadly, full sox and not stirrups) but the spirit was still there, if not the stirrups. This is something I feel you should know.

Go Pale Hose!!

Just a general comment…

I hate, hate, hate, hate , HATE the Memphis Tiger’s uniforms. They are TERRIBLE. When a team wears a uniform this bad, it should factor into their placement when the NCAA is seeding the brackets – drop them down to a 7 or 8 seed! :)

Great to see a Royal on the blog, backwards stirrups or not…By the way, Paul, I had an interview right after you were on yesterday with JJ Piccolo, the new Director of Player Development for the Royals, and one of his comments was that part of the organizations return to the “Royal Way” included strict requirements on uniform wear, including wearing real stirrups and cuffing the pants. GM Dayton Moore is working to make sure that those standards go all the way to the big club as well. Another interesting sidenote that I was not able to get to while you were on, there is a new and used sporting goods business here in Springfield that is having a big tent sale this weekend. Included among all of the gloves, bats, balls and uniforms are 150 New York Yankees batting helmets, which, from what I was told by an employee, were ordered last fall for the ALCS and World Series, but were not needed. Thanks again for coming on, lots of great emails!

I can live with the tops in the System of Dress. But those shorts have to go. Like, now.

Apropos of nothing, I found a great shot of the fantastic link, which we were talking about last week…

Elite 8 Unis:

Memphis has the worst unis in all college basketball and guess what, they aren’t Nike. Take that Nike haters!!

I know I’m probably in the minority but the I love the new system of dress jerseys. could do without the shorts, but the jerseys are awesome, especially in white. Ohio St. was looking good today

As a royals guy i dont want to bash, but wearing stirrups backwards is unacceptable. Period. Effort only counts until 2nd or 3rd grade, or if you work for the government and they don’t actually care about productivity.

A) Good to see Royals fans make their presence known.
B) I like Dayton Moore’s system of dress (but here’s a vote for powder blues).
D) Hope the Royals stick with just one cap.
C)) Stirrups are cool; backward stirrups are not.

was was the little 2 spots on gred ‘the man child’ oden’s jersey. it was there partway through the osu/tenn game, and there today (i think, unless i didnt notice)…

almost link like dried blood that won’t wash out…

i love the ‘system of dress’ tops, as long as they didn’t wear the super baggy shorts, i wouldnt mind unc(my team) wearing em next year…

Watching the UCLA game and I just have to say I hate the royal blue. It’s bad enough on it’s own, but every time they cut to the fans, they are all decked out in powder blue and just proves how bad the jerseys are.

Last time I checked, it goes: A, B, C, D

I guess this story is only semi-uni-relatied, but there’s a funny sponsorship story from the English Premier League. link says that Portsmouth has been trying to poach link, Llanera, just in case Charlton gets relegated from the Premiership. Apparently Portsmouth was trying to do this without letting it get out, but they sent an email to the wrong address and Charlton found out. Charlton’s commercial director had this comment:

“Interesting Approach! Why waste time putting in the effort to research the sponsorship market and make time-wasting presentations to potential partners when you can simply contact someone else’s partner, preferably a club fighting relegation and get them to move across? Brilliant.”

It was blood on Oden’s jersey. He cut his chin towards the end of the game against Tennessee.
