how ridiculous does the jersey tucked in to the chinos look
George Washington is wearing a link memorial band on their unis. I can’t remember ever seeing a team wear a memorial band in any color other than black, especially a color that isn’t even in their color scheme.

…and the polo shirt under the jersey.
I believe the red band is for Red Auerbach, who is a GW alum.
That’s very interesting, because last year, I was at a game in Philadelphia where he threw out the first pitch wearing a link. He is a lifelong link.

That’s in memory of alum Arnold “Red” Auerbach IIRC.
Doesn’t he have something else to do, like destroying our freedom or something?
Yesterday Florida was wearing their regular home uniforms, not the new Nike System of Dress. I don’t know if they have been doing that all SEC tournament or not though. Is it possible they don’t like the System? Let’s hope.

Or protecting it.

Sure, Will, and you probably also believe that Chavez will always act in the best interests of the Venezuelan people, and those in S. America as well…
Getting back to the real point of this board: Can someone please tell Bucknell that the wide-shouldered look has already come and gone? Please?

Dude, don’t be silly. The only “System” unis they’ve worn in a game are the Blue version. The White and Black are being saved for NCAAs.

Forget about the curve ball [Sammy], give him the heater.
Holy shit!! #13 for the yankees is wearing his pants over-the-calf!! as is doug mintkiewicz (who usually does)… they are “college buddies”.. maybe dougie has convinced alex to wear his pants correctly!! also, chin-mien wang’s #4 of the 40 on his back is peeling off.. definitely not tackle-twill!! didn’t think the yanks skimped on anything… going with the “lee press-on nails” variety jerseys is interesting..
anybody notice the Alito’s belt? its a normal brown belt. I know im not a rays fan, but i am pretty sure they don’t wear brown belts.

Florida only wore the System uniforms for one game. Look through their gallery on Yahoo or ESPN and you’ll see they wore their regular home whites for the entire SEC tourney.

Pictures of this amazing link of proper pant length (as long as my first attempt at Flickr works). The game yesterday against the Pirates was not televised, but you can see that he went link in that away game, too.
Whenever the Yankees have lost a high-socked player (Soriano and Bubba Crosby, for instance), I have worried that there would not be another. However, the UniGods do provide, don’t they? They always seem to have at least one. And now two? One starter and one platoon-er? Woot!
Ironic conversation between joe girardi and ken singleton working the yankee telecast today on the YES network… during the 4th inning (I believe) rodriguez was up and the banter about his correct pant length ensued… girardi made a comment that he “was a big fan of the high-pant look” and that it “was a classic baseball look”.. the irony is that during his yankee career girardi wore his pants high ONCE.. ironically the day of david cone’s perfect game… otherwise he was a pajama wearer

No, because of the new material of the BP jerseys, the tackle-twill number don’t work well with them so they had to go with the heat sealed numbers. I think there was an article that explained this somewhere around here, but it was about the Phillies.

Nashville also wore white at home last night. Maybe it was a Central Division weekend thing.

Will do!
I was at the Ranger/Hurricane game today, and in warmups, I had noticed that Carolina goalie Cam Ward didn’t appear to be wearing anything on the back side of his legs, as I’m pretty sure i could see his skin. Also, he left in the 2nd period due to a “cut on his leg”, presumably on the back side. If anyone has pics to confirm that i wasnt just seeing things, that would be appreciated. Also, can anyone remember a different time when a goalie got injured due to not wearing any type of protection on the back of his leg?

todays mets/marlins game… mets 10th inning pitcher, hawk i believe was wearing #90..same as sandy alomar jr., interesting cause hawk did not have a nameplate.

The reason the Wings were wearing their white jerseys is because for original six matchups this year Boston is wearing that sweet throwback jersey that they wore today…
First time poster. While flipping channels this morning saw a replay of Delaware St. vs. Morgan St. women’s BB. Delaware St. had a unique uniform.link
All uni-related and political-related stuff aside, he has pretty good baseball form unlike some of the jokers they trot out there for ceremonial pitches

The Mets had a split squad game today, and Alomar Jr. was at the other game. There was one point in the 9th or 10th inning, where the entire infield for the Mets (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and SS) all had jerseys without nameplates.

College buddies? Eyechart went to Florida State while Rodriguez went to Miami. I guess its possible they were buddies, but probably a color commentator just blowing smoke.

I guess if he came in tight and nailed him in the shoulder, the batter could always appeal.

Were the jerseys designed not to have nameplates, or were there huge blank spaces above the number?
IIRC, the Mets used to issue genuine number-only style jerseys to the guys in minor-league camp, but that was in the days before these new blue-and-black practice shirts.
some of the Gators have dumped their usual white w/ blue and white w/ orange shoes for black ones. Not sure why…
oh, and A-Rod never went to UM, or any other college. He signed a letter of intent to play for the Hurricanes, but went straight from Westminster Christian (a block from my parents’ house) to pro ball. Pretty sure doug mankiewicz went there too.

There was a lot of space for the nameplate, but I guess because these players were never going to make the 25 man roster, the Mets didn’t bother putting their names on their backs. The announcers even joked about their lack of names on their jerseys throughout the game.

I wish my school even qualified for the NIT this year….
I mean, we were in the NIT semifinals 3 years ago and now we can’t even qualify for it, thanks to a 15-16 record. Oh well, club baseball starts after this week off for break
Paul,
I know that your not a big College Basketball fan but know that the Tournement field is set can we get a bracket filled out by you based on the uniforms the teams wear. I think it might be a good article for Thursday. (Accidently posted this under the Saturday thred. So much for paying attention to details.)

Interesting idea Matt. A bracket based solely on uniforms. Somehow I don’t think Oregon is going to get very far! haha

Score one for C.J.
How about the warm-up zipper jacket the NCAA Selection Commitee Chairman was rockin’ on the CBS Selection show. Plenty of Logo Creep from that you-know-who company….
I don’t care who you put in it, that Tampa jersey is just plain awful.

Ward is out for the rest of the season. The cut was from a skate, which got him above his left knee, so it has nothing to do with his calf possibly being bare.

actually, the numbers were stitched on higher than the usually are to compensate for the name absensce. gary cohen and ron darling were joking that charlie samuels would have to sew andy tracy’s name on his jersey if he hit a walk off homer to end the extra inning game, but i noted to myself that they probably wouldn’t have room. and once again, these jerseys were the snow white home jerseys, which they’ve worn for all televised games in the spring thus far
Since I didn’t see it brought up, the Red Sox were wearing their normal uniforms and hats today against the O’s in Ft. Meyers. I think that is the current Red Sox tradition that on Sundays durning Spring Training, they wear them.
During the NESN broadcast, Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy were interviewing Tom Warner and John Henry. The inning was running long and the topic got onto the BP hats. None of them like the new hats at all. Remy even asked, “What are they for?” I think it was Henry that said MLB made them wear the hats and the Red Sox went out of their way to make sure the panels matched.
Interesting that the Red Sox, and to an extent, the Angels with them using last years hat, went out of their way to get the panel to match while other “classy” teams like the Yankees and Dodgers went with the different color panel.
Logo creep is one thing, this is going overboard…
Word on the street is that Oregon’s Ernie Kent may be forced out at at the end of season because Phil Night doesn’t like him. Oregon’s even being called Swoosh U in some circles now.

I love it!

Thanks for the info, guys; these must surely be minor-league camp jerseys.
The first time I saw these in person was a season or two after they stopped wearing the number-only jerseys in the regular season, so I had thought they were handed down from the big club. A long time ago, maybe in the 1980s, I read an article in the Shea Stadium scorebook magazine (do they still sell this?) saying that they use the uniforms for two years and them pass them down to the minors.
They’re really nice-looking and I’d much rather wear one of those than one with a name on it.

Arod Skipped college also. Commited to UM but went to seatlle instead.
Arod went to st thomas aquinas and was a QB, (explains 13). Arod felt guilty about committing then renigging, so he donated a ton of money to UM for baseball field renovations (whch then renamed the field Alex Rodiguez Field at Mark Light Stadium). (How many schools have a field named after a person who never played for them?)
“college buddies”… A-rod and Dougie went to the same high school (Westminster) in Miami.
woops, guess it was westminster christian.
But GO SOUTHRIDGE!!!
Alex Rodiguez Field at Mark Light Stadium
…is a pathetic name for a baseball park. If you want to get both guys’ names in there, call it Light-Rodriguez Field or something similar.

The panel for the Yankees does match the hat, they just have the piping continue the line from the bill.
