Lots of good uni-related action last night in Major League Baseball, beginning in St. Louis, where Brewers pitcher Chris Spurling took the mound in the bottom of the 7th wearing a white glove. As we’ve discussed before, this is technically against the rules (position players can wear light-colored gloves, but not pitchers), although it’s rarely enforced. But this umpiring crew apparently felt they needed the exercise. So as Spurling warmed up, the umps conferred, pointed at him, and then came over for a closer look, which of course attracted the attention of nimble-minded Cardinals announcers Dan McLaughlin and Al Hrabosky:
McLaughlin: What’s goin’ on here?
Hrabosky: Ahhh, they’re gonna check his glove, or something. Now they’re gonna bring out [Brewers manager] Ned Yost. Looks like it has some abbreviation for his name.
McLaughlin: “Spur.”
Hrabosky: “Spur 48,” number 48. He was with Detroit, that was his number with Detroit. [Spurling now wears No. 50 with the Brewers.]
McLaughlin: Because the glove is white…
Hrabosky: The glove is tan…
McLaughlin: Right.
Hrabosky: And that may be sayin’…
McLaughlin: Hides the ball.
Hrabosky: Yeah, it’s too close to the color of the ball. Kinda matches, y’know, the sleeve there. [Tries to use the Telestrator to draw a line on the gold trim of Spurling’s sleeve, but the director changes to another camera view and Hrabosky ends up drawing his line on Ned Yost instead.] They may make him change it. Obviously this’d be the first time, if they do. [Long pause as umps confer.] Gonna make him change gloves. [Spurling trades in his glove for a dark model.]
McLaughlin [groping for something relevant to say]: 40,313 in attendance tonight. [Pause.] You don’t see that very often, do you?
Hrabosky: No. But I can honestly say I think that’s the first time I’ve seen that color glove, too.
McLaughlin [making completely nonsensical reference to Joe Neikro]: Yeah. At least an emory board didn’t fly out of his back pocket.
Sound familiar? If you go back two months to the transcript of Todd Walker’s jersey snafu, you’ll find that McLaughlin pulled exactly the same routine. Basically, when a situation annoys him and he has nothing useful to say, he snidely mentions the attendance and suggests that the whole incident is a waste of everyone’s time, especially his. Dude clearly needs to get his priorities straight.
Meanwhile, up in the Bronx, the underbill inscription phenomenon got a small amount of airtime during last night’s Yankees/Orioles game, as play-by-play man Michael Kay noticed that Yanks starter Darrell Rasner had something scribbled under there. Here’s the short discussion Kay had with color commentator Al Leiter:
Kay: We just got a shot of Rasner, and he has something written under the bill of his hat. And you see that with a lot of pitchers. You have any literature under the bill of your hat?
Leiter: Yeah, early on I used to have, uh, KISS.
Kay: “Keep it simple, stupid”?
Leiter: Mm-hmm.
Kay: So it was not an homage to Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, anything like that?
Leiter: No.
Uni watchery and lame-o hard rock references all in one sound bite, not too shabby.
(Big thanks to Laura Koenig and Eric Ritschdorff for the tips.)
Uni Watch News Ticker: The Bucks unveiled their new uniforms yesterday. And while the Xmas-esque color scheme is a bit problematic, it’s clearly a major upgrade over what they had before. … Speaking of Milwaukee, my radio interview on WUWM’s Lake Effect radio show, recorded last month at the Milkwaukee Uni Watch party, finally aired on Wednesday night. You can access the audio file here. … Joe Poll was poking around the Broncos’ web site and turned up this article about equipment manager Chris Valenti. The site also includes this 2005 Q&A session that Valenti conducted — good stuff. … Has anyone else noticed how bad Pedro Martinez’s karma has been since he failed to cash our check?
I like the early posting. makes it nice for the international uniwatchers out there.
Just a couple of opinions on the new Bucks unis:
I hate that shiny material on many of these basketball uniforms. To me it just looks cheap.
I wish the Roads said, “Milwaukee” but I like it anyway.
Something looks odd about the shorts seeming way bigger than the shirts. Especially on the guy on the right.
I’m glad the old colors are back – Christmas not withstanding.
Wow. I expected there to be much more “modern” (read: Nike-like) crap on the new Bucks duds. I’m actually quite excited about the new ones. a decent combo of their recent designs and retro. and they’re so simple!
two nitpicks:
1) I still am not really a fan of that typeface.
2) Dear NBA: lose the shiny fabric.
ultimately, while the only thing I will accept as Milwaukee Bucks gospel is link, these new unis are a major, major upgrade from what they were stuck with for the last decade or so.
speaking of xmas… link!
speaking of xmas… link!
Those Devils jerseys always made me think of watermelons for some reason.
speaking of xmas… link!
YES!! I agree…
Although I don’t think too many uni watch readers will share our opinion. There was a bunch of commenting on this topic a week or two ago. It led to people bashing the logo and saying it was cartoony.
for starters i love the devils logo cause it takes a second look to get all the elements but is still simple…
pedro’s karma couldn’t be worst… notice mostly that his injury is in the exact spot of his uniform infraction… if he would have just hike his socks the tendon would have been protected…
I cannot stand the shiny material, either in the NBA or the NFL.
As for the Bucks specifically, the new uniforms are fine, and I thought that the purple ones were ok too. I have no problem with purple if it is done right (e.g., Vikings until this year).
This should show Pedro that he shouldn’t mess with the powers of the UniWatchers!
Next time, just cash Paul’s check
Does this count as a win or a loss in the war on Christmas?
Anyway, that color scheme just isn’t doing it for me, and the striping in the side panels doesn’t look very sharp, especially the white on the aways.
I’d love to se a return to link

I am all for bringing back the old Devils jerseys. And I hate the Devils! I did always like their unis though, until they changed them.
My wife & I were watching the Brewers “white glove” fiasco and I just knew that Uni Watch would be all over it!
McLaughlin & Hrabosky were cranky last night about EVERYTHING as they were watching their Redbirds go into the tank. They needed to lighten up about everything, not just all issues uni-related.
Note to Mssrs. Hrabosky & McLaughlin: your club is still in first place, and trust me as a (gulp) Pirate fan, it could be A LOT worse. Fourteen consecutive losing seasons, for instance…
I agree with Hrabosky, that glove is tan, not white.
And yeah, Tape (#3), that Buck road jersey is just too shiny, almost Dallas-Maverick-silver-shiny!
Niekro is a sore subject for me, so I can’t resist commenting. The guy was railroaded – did any one stop to think about how exactly he was managing to discreetly rough up the ball with an object in his back pocket? In front of thousands of people and a TV audience? It did not happen, people. The board was for exactly what he said it was for.
Anyway, I’m glad they made Spurling change the glove.
The new Bucks unis are a huge improvement. Granted, they could have updated the logo, or even brought back the old-school Bango logo. But all in all, it’s a lot better than I had expected. The pairing of green and red is in my opinion an underused color combo.
I actually like the red and green quite a bit. It’s time we start claiming color combinations back from holidays. Why should Christmas be teh only time that red and green are allowed to be seen together? They look good together, and they will look great filling the arena. I could care less about the Bucks, but I am all about bringing some life back to that tired-looking franchise.
Now that new off-center “Buck Head” logo of theirs, however… That’s a different story.

You’re right… the guy would have had to have been David Blaine (hehehehehe) to make that happen in front of 35K ppl. Railroaded is right.
In advance, sorry for the long post. Loved the radio interview. Just a couple of thoughts that occurred to me as I was listening…
Did they say the Admirals’ practice facility is the Mullet Ice Center?
Paul, the Jaguars? Wow… I had no idea. Another of what I would call your guilty pleasures, though, has got to be the original Tampa Bay Devil Rays unis. I’ve seen you hype those jerseys a couple times now, and I just don’t get it, what with the rainbow lettering and all…
I suppose since we’re all similarly obsessed, I can finally admit this in public. When I was a kid, every summer I used to sit down and draw and color every team logo in MLB and decorate my room with them. Think I did it once with the NFL, too, but I was pretty good with the baseball logos. Once a friend of mine had me draw him up a big (like 3′ x 3′) Blue Jays logo, and later in life that same drawing ended up in the background of a picture of the governor (I grew up in Alaska) in our local newspaper. Long story.
The Bucks’ uniforms are better. I agree that the shiny fabric is not good, but they look much more like retro uniforms…
link
Allow me to echo the “I hate shiny fabric”-comments. It makes the Nuggets look like they are wearing WNBA uniforms and it’s really not necessary on these new Bucks-duds. The Raptors got it right in passing on the shiny-ness.

I was actually pretty excited to see the new Bucks uni’s (although I am a Bulls fan). I was very, VERY disappointed to see the shiny fabric. I would have loved to seen link
And in regard to the Nuggets and the WNBA:
link
link
a. i’ll sign the “i hate the shiny fabric on pro sports uniforms” petition. the “dazzle” or “shimmer” style, or how it has been referred to by manufacturers is fine to wear on your summer league teams at the playgrounds, but not as an nba franchise
b. when it comes to white leather in baseball, what are we defining it as? any none black or dark brown leather on gloves? i’m convinced i own a pair of casual shoes that are that color, and they are definitely not white. when i hear the term “wearing the whites” i think of either a member of the us navy or naval academy in their dress whites, or rocking a pair of crispy new air force 1’s.
c. every time i read something about the devils and their unis, i cant help but think of their number 1 fan who is there to “support the team”. david puddy. “nobody messes with the devils. nobody.” incidently although he rocked the white red and black marty brodeur jersey, he painted his face red and green…
I hate that shiny material on many of these basketball uniforms. To me it just looks cheap.
Agreed. And couldn’t someone find Andrew Bogut an iron? The wrinkles make the jersey look even thinner and cheaper in addition to the shiny fabric.
oh, and, uh, adidas has started to release a ton of nba stuff. just do an eastbay search for adidas nba…
althought their “authentic” shorts are confusing. the alternate shorts are sans logo, whereas the regular shorts have one.
Paul, the Jaguars? Wow… I had no idea. Another of what I would call your guilty pleasures, though, has got to be the original Tampa Bay Devil Rays unis. I do indeed like the Jaguars’ uni. I like the colors (the turquoise somehow looks classy when accented with gold and black), I love the number typeface, and I really like the helmet. If they can resist changing this design (unlikely, but we can hope), I honestly believe it will be considered a classic 20 yrs from now.
As for the D-Rays, I think you’re confusing me with someone else. I’m link as calling Tampa’s inaugural uniform the worst in MLB history. I have no problem with their current set, however, which I think is perfectly fine.
Anyone else think the Bucks should wear the black shoes on the road and the white shoes at home?
This should show Pedro that he shouldn’t mess with the powers of the UniWatchers!

Karma Shmarma! Doesn’t this all go back to him slipping in the clubhouse when the umps made him take off or alter his Nike dot matrix shirt in May. He hurts his hip, starts limping around, probably strains both of his calves trying to compensate… AARRGGHH! I agree he should have cashed the check and looked good with high socks but I place the blame on the swoosh.
Let’s go Mets!
i wonder if michael redd is going to be added to the brand jordan stable soon based on his uniform debut footwear.
Anyone else think the Bucks should wear the black shoes on the road and the white shoes at home?
I think every team should do that… In both the NBA & NFL.
Puh-lease, Pedro injured is a plus for the Mets. He’s pitched in one big game as a Met, on a Wednesday in August of last year. The Mets are .5 games back in the Wild Card on Philly, who they are playing. Pedro on the hill. He gives up four bombs, the Mets lose, season down the drain.
Given this team, I’m satisfied with Duque, Glavine and Maine or Traschel.

Besides the Bogut mess, anyone else notice how uncomfrotable mike redd looked in his uniform. Looked like his shorts were a XXL and his Jersey was a Child Small. Were the bucks going for the NHLs new tappered narrow look? Sounds funny, but seriously are they?
What’s going on with the heel of Redd’s link in this picture?
Is there something there or is it just me? Is it just the paint on the floor messing with my eyes, warm-ups, toilet paper… what’s going on?

i wondered that too, but im sure they came out in warm ups and then tore them off for the unveiling of the uni…thats probably a pant leg…
I agree with everyone who has said they don’t care for the shiny material or the typeface of the new Bucks uniform.
It’s far from perfect, but I think it’s an upgrade, and it turned out much, much better than I thought they would when the team made the announcment that they were switching to red and green.
Final Grade: B

It almost looks like his shoe is melting to the floor…maybe a warm-up if they announced those too
Also look how the fabric on Bogut’s jersey is pulling by the lettering already
Finally, some online pictures arrived of UNCo’s new road blue pants, courtesy of New Balance. Apologies for the link in the foreground, but it is from Weber State’s website. But seriously? Eww…
The Sam Safken patch was alive and well last night too, but alas, no pictures so far. The Greeley Tribune ran a picture of it, but their online version fails to include it.
I was googling the Orioles logo for my softball team at work and came across quite a gem on Chris Creamer’s site. It’s a redesign concept for the link. Not that they should or will ever change their look, but I think the designs have some merit.

Too bad the NCAA patch doesnt fully cover the Adidas logo creep on that purple monster.

How about black and orange as good-looking holiday colors? The Bengals notwithstanding, those two colors always go well to my eye. I will admit, though, I have a soft spot for orange, even if I am a son of a Texas A&M alum.
As far as the Jags’ unis go, I like the original set just fine, but can’t stand the black jersey or pants; those are just awful to me.
Also, I remember Paul saying quite a while ago (I want to say in his first ESPN column, but I’m not sure) that the Thrashers’ uniforms are another “modern” set he likes. I disagree with him, but I would like to know why he likes those uniforms.
Nice to hear that Paul likes the Jags’ unis. As part of the 1% of America that roots for the Jags (according to Harris Interactive), I love the Jags’ unis. At first I disapproved of the change from traditional numbers. The 95-96 jersey was great.
link
Then Nike went overboard and added black side panels in 1997 (look at Clyde Simmons and Pete Mitchell – which is really Jeff Lageman, I think)
link
They toned it down by 1999, and they have had the same jersey since (except for the addition of a black alternate jersey and black pants). The black pants, however, have gone through 2 incarnations. They originally had stripes similar to the white pants (look at Leftwich in the line above).
The helmet has always been great. I’m glad they had to nix the prototype b/c it was too close to the carmaker logo (scroll down).
link
Not sure about the uni design, but I like the idea of a two-tone stirrup/sock combo.

I must respectfully but vehemently disagree. The Orioles look has changed over the years, but it has been consistently good and has never offended. The redesign in the link features creativity run amok.
Put me down as a Jag uni lover … pre-black pants of course which make little sense. I’d have changed the pants from white to, not black, but the metallic gold that is already in their uni. That could have been one for the ages.
Two more thumbs (and more if I had them) way down for shiny NBA unis. That trend has to peter out soon.
although he did have the dbacks in brick red, sand and black last year in his concept…
link
A little college football here…why does Auburn refuse to match the stripes on their pants to their helmet and jersey?
link
Those MLB uniform concepts are just plain offensive. The Orioles look like a football team. Then again, in real life, they sure don’t look like a baseball team.
So are the Bucks now an affiliate with the Minnesota Wild? That color combo is awfully close.

I must have gotten that backwards, my apologies. But I don’t like the current set, either, so I knew we disagreed on one of the D-Rays unis.
That new, green Bucks uniform looks like cheep Christmas ribbon that a department store would use to wrap gifts. It’s good to see their old colors back, but the uniform material looks shiny to the point of gaudy?
So are the Bucks now an affiliate with the Minnesota Wild? That color combo is awfully close.
No, the Bucks just went back to their original colors (worn until the mid-80s) which the Wild had appropriated.
I like the new Bucks jerseys. HUGE improvement over their previous ones. I’m in the minority on this, but I like the shiny jerseys. They remind me of the old UNLV jerseys from back in the day.
So many “new” jerseys (read: anything made by Nike) are ugly (Kentucky, Arizona, Florida, etc.) It’s refreshing to have a new jersey that isn’t brutal.
On another note, does anybody know where I can order George Mason shorts made by Nike?

No, I said the NEW jerseys Nike made are ugly. The style shorts that George Mason wear is an OLD DESIGN that was first introduced in the mid-90s (worn by Penn St., Ok. St., a few other teams, I forget). GMU does not wear NEW style Nike jerseys (like LSU, Florida, Wake Forest, Iowa, etc.) Up until a few years ago Nike made some nice college basketball jerseys. Too bad they’ve really gone downhill with their NEW designs.
Just so Paul isn’t the only one confessing guilty pleasures… I love the Kansas City Royals uniforms. No, not the link (which I know some people really like), but what they wear today. The link, the link… can’t get enough. But this is the only place I’ll admit it.
Paul,
On another subject have you heard anything about the Wizards ever getting new jerseys? The current ones the Wizards have are rough, in my opinion.
Thanks.
Anyone notice that those MLB concept unis (orioles, dbacks, braves) look very NFL-ish?
I don’t particularly like them, but I would be interested to see more of his designs if anyone has links. He is creative anyway….
Oh, so shiny! Those Bucks unis have got to go. The whites are fine, but those shiny Christmas ones are an eyesore. Maybe it’s because I don’t like Christmas, but green and red together doesn’t sit well with me. I like the Wild unis for some odd reason, but I dislike the Bucks—back to the purple, please.
Oh, as to those concept designs—please burn them so no exec actually thinks they’re a good idea.
As far as those link, I’m not too fond of the link. He didn’t go as overboard with those as he did with some others, but there’s not a whole lot of Olde English D left in them. Even then, it’s a New Tiger-Striped D.

I don’t think the Wild “appropriated” the Bucks colors, certainly not intentionally. I doubt a Minnesota team would intentionally lift colors from a Wisconsin-based team. I think that the Wild chose their colors to represent various aspects about the state of Minnesota; I’m not certain what each color means, though.

The Pedro Karma has cetainly caught up to him.
Today’s Newark Star-Ledger has a shot of Pedro wearing the black uni AND he has the pajama pant look. To top it off, he has the bottom of the pant ripped and ticked onto the bottom of the cleat! ugh!
Yeah the Jaguars uniforms (minus the black pants) are amont the best in the NFL, along with the good old Silver and Black. NO GUILT REQUIRED. Now if anyone likes the Vikings uniforms, they need all the quilt they can get…Oh by the way did anyone ever notice that when the Jaguars came into the league all the players’ shoulder pads had the same jaguar logo thats on the Jaguars “sleeves”. If they’d kept the three-layer block numbers but made the names a single layer of white (home) or black (road), they would have looked perfect. The Devil Rays do this too and the names are much more readable than they would be if they also had three layers.
As a Bucks half-season ticket holder (the “purple plan” — i refuse to acknowledge that it has a new name now), i opted to pass on going to the “grand unveiling” of the new Bucks unis. Obviously, as a vocal proponent of purple, it would have both broken my heart AND been an egregious breach of decorum to do so. That said, i’ve always felt that the traditional dark green jerseys w/red and white trim were actually pretty cool (had the return to green and red not come at the expense of my favorite color, i’d likely be all for it), so, the loss of purple notwithstanding, i was cautiously optimistic about the whole affair. Unfortunately, let me levy a big BAH, HUMBUG on the new unis — i was hoping for either a modernized version of the late 70’s jersey (red trim w/the green side bars) (and, when i say “modernized,” i mean a font similar to what the Mavs and Pistons currently use), or else just a flat-out return to 1971. Instead, i got this stupid “BUCKS” lettering that looks like the things my grandma used to put around her shrubs to keep the rabbits out, some kinda wet green garbage bag look, and Cardinals/Vikings/af2 style curvy weird side crap on the away jerseys, and the home jerseys just look like puke. Red Thursday is a sad, sad day for athletic aesthetics.
Those uniform redesigns are all horrible. Just because a guy knows how to use a few computer programs, doesn’t mean he is able to design unis. I don’t want every uni, logo etc to look “modern” and “bold” and “graphic” with thick outlines and comic book lettering and. The best designs are unique to that team and it’s history. These look like they came from a logo factory.

Yeah, any franchise that plays in the New Jersey Meadowlands.
lots of uni fun last night in the mets braves game
andruw appears to be the only brave that wears the cool flow helmet in the lineup last night
the back up ctacher for the braves, Pena, wears to different color batting gloves
and it appears that jose reyes was wearing an NL East Champs 3/4 sleeve tee under his jersey last night, as you could see part of it while he was batting
The Jags teal home uni’s are decent, but I can’t stand the white jersey/black pants combo because said teal becomes invisible and it looks like they are black with a little gold trim. If you’re going to do the “All Teal Stadium” bit, have the balls to include teal in both uniform sets.

So are the Bucks now an affiliate with the Minnesota Wild? That color combo is awfully close.
No, the Bucks just went back to their original colors (worn until the mid-80s) which the Wild had appropriated.
I guess I should have put “appropriated” in quotes as I wasn’t knocking the Wild’s look – I like their use of the colors. I was just having a “hey you kids get off my lawn” moment as someone who fondly remembers the green/red Bucks unis of the late 70s norb refers to in post #76 and was unsure if the orignal poster (Kim) remembered they were the Bucks colors long before the Wild was in existance.

I actually like this combo the best(I think there is a tiny bit of the turqoise were the NFL logo is on the jersey yoke). Since the black and gold are colors you might actually see on a jaguar. If you know of a turquoise jaguar let me know. I don’t mind the turquise jersey’s though (much better than the vikings, titans, bengals, lions with the black trim, broncos, and bills) I just like the white better

definite improvement for the Bucks, as far as the uniforms (logo issues have already been discussed here), but I’m not sure if they’re really as shiny as they look in that picture. Check link David Noel is not looking quite as shiny.
I give the kid props for creativity and effort. His designs are a bit cookie cutter, and not something I’d like to see my teams wearing. But I do like that he has put his creativity to the fine art of uniforms vs. say import cars or something. To me it seems he’s lacking the history and tradition behind the clubs, and that is a large part of who they are. Overall, they were fun to look at and they get you thinking and that’s great!
I’d love to see a recurrence of a trademark Bucks uni memory — two players with the same last name a la “Marques Johnson” and “Mickey Johnson.”
Might I also add how great it is to live in a world where how that was handled would generate instantly viewable comment from like-minded people all over the world?

Begin Canned Defense of UD’s Mascot
The Delaware Regiment raised during the Revolutionary war fought with great valor and distinguished itself as one of the bravest fighting units in the Continental Army. Their mascot was an actual Delaware Blue Hen, know for its fighting skills (and skills in magic), and hence the unit became known as the “Fightin Blue Hens.”
End Canned Defense of UD’s Mascot
Actually the real linkdoes have a bluish tint to it’s feathers. UD maintains a breeding stock to preserve this type of bird. And the old linkwas a billion times better than the link one.
On the plus side I get to tailgate all day tomorrow in Newark, DE. On the minus side, they’re playing New Hampshire.

agreed. i applaud his efforts just to take the time to do it! i know how long it took me to review all of them, let alone for him to design them. and hey, we all looked at his WHOLE album so they couldnt be that bad!
as a nike guy, when i was growing up i had a huge portfolio of nike shoe designs, of course with no computer aid so they were all freehand.

his atlanta hawks templates were nice i thought. and i dont mind the rockies design. great effort!
…oh, and, nice toe too.
So I have to give the guy lots of credit for the designs. I can’t even draw stick folks. However, doesn’t it seem that link looks an awful lot like link Kind of interesting seeing as how this Diamondbacks logo is “new” and it would seem that his Wizards design has been there for a bit.
Ok, on that one kid’s logo page, i give him all kinds of props for doing that. Some of his stuff isn’t really that bad. I don’t care for the whole O’s things, but some parts of it are ok, and the “new” texas logo looks neat, tough, i like it. But I have to ask, What the HELL is this link logo supposed to be? and how come no one has pointed out the LOGO CREEP? Look at the Browns one, and like this link for the redskins. Well, we can give him link one as a plus. I think it’s awesome.
Just curious if they are like minded people out there. I think the best redesign of the NBA uniform would have to include reducing the length of the shorts. Players are wearing them way to baggy to where they look clownish.
link
I hope this metallic-fabric-in-the-NBA “fad” doesn’t last much longer… What do they think this is, the future?!
Dear NBA, y’all look ridiculous!
I take back some of what I said as the Anaheim Ducks design isn’t half bad, ESPECIALLY considering what they came up with this year.
link
I guess the only two things that really bother me about these redesigns is that he would dare even think about changing teams like the Dodgers, Cubs, Tigers, etc. And the second thing is that each of these just uses too much heavy use of color and font; too many bold lines. The designs are too heavy and clunky. It’s like something you’d see on a videogame or anime or something like that.
And please excuse my poor grammar as I was not smart enough to look at my post before I clicked the ‘Say it’ button.

He’s a lot like Paris Hilton in that regard.
I’m not being harsh on the kid because I’m against change; I’m being harsh because I don’t like his designs. Most of them blend into each other and are blah for the most part. I don’t even like the Vikes’ prototype because of the hideous mustard-brown ‘gold’ accents.
I don’t think most of his designs—and I mostly looked at the baseball ones—are very creative. Changing for the sake of change is just as bad as refusing to change at all.
I remember when AAO was doing this project on Chris Creamer’s board. He took on the task of redesigning every team, and I tip my cap to him for that. As a whole, yes, many have similar design trademarks of his. But give one team one of his designs and I think it could work. Not saying I’d want it to be the Cubs, but I honestly like the fact that he took even the traditional teams in a bold new direction. (And why are the Cubs completely untouchable — they’ve won nothing in these or any of the versions since 1945… or 1908 to be specific.) It’s just a concept, folks. It’s not like one day MLB is going to say — “everyone change to these now.” Well, maybe they would — I forgot Turn Ahead the Clock day. He did a nice job with them.
I love some of the logos that guy came up with, (stuff you can put on a hat or in the middle of a football field for example) but the entire uniform designs are not too hot for a lot of them.
And I never realized how retared looking baseball uniforms are with side paneling and Denver Brocno-esque stripes on pants are until I saw the link design. But for whatever reason, I like them on NFL teams.

I was just watching the Marlins/Phillies game at lunch. Cabrera and Willingham are both wearing personalized swooshified wristbands and Jaime Moyer seems to be having some alignment problems with the Liberty Bell Stirups.
Used to. It’s Alaska now.
And this…this….NO! link
If the Longhorns did this I would never watch them again. The most disturbing part, other than all those crazy lines all over everything, is that the longhorn has suddenly lost his horns! ACK!

I take back all the nice things I said. This redesign guy is link!! If anyone at my alma mater’s athletic department thinks this is a good idea I will probably go on a kill-crazy rampage!
C’mon, what can the Blue Chickens be upset about??? (He says as his school’s mascot is an Orange, and not even a navel orange at that).
Thanks for this…. LOL. I quite enjoyed it, have a great day of tailgating.
Regarding the Minnesota Wild color scheme, i personally don’t believe that any Minnesota team would attempt to appeal to any Wisconsinite, ever, but it is worth noting that, as far as FSN North is concerned, Wisconsin (at least the northern part) is part of the Minnesota Wild broadcast area — Green Bay is 285 miles from St. Paul and the Wild and only 200 miles from Chicago and the Blackhawks, but we get Wild — not Blackhawks — games.
