- The Bears’ uniform schedule came out over Labor Day weekend, so we didn’t mention it at the time. If you haven’t seen it yet, it includes a mono-blue combo in the last game of the regular season. (From Jeff Stark)

- An email Ohio State sent out encourages fans to wear black next weekend, which matches reports of all-black uniforms for that game from about a month ago. (From Sean Huffman)

- The Aces won the WNBA championship yesterday. Reader James Gilbert noticed that a graphic they posted on social media afterwards looks like it’s a reference to the 50th-anniversary poster for The Godfather.
- A note placed on seats for an WNBA Finals game used an out-of-date league logo.

- The Junior A British Columbia Hockey League’s Coquitlam Express revealed a new mascot. Fans chose the name, Loco. (From Wade Heidt)
- The PHF’s Boston Pride got their 2022 championship rings this weekend.

- Another week, another Washington Spirit milestone: Center-back Sam Staab got a No. 50 shirt for making 50 appearances with the team, although I think she would have hit it earlier this season.
International
- As you can imagine, men’s and women’s teams primarily in England and Scotland wore black armbands in memory of Elizabeth II, and it looked like some men’s English Football League teams participated in midweek and not this weekend. There were other added visuals, including many on adboards, but one of the more unique ones was Tottenham Hotspur Stadium changing its scoreboard’s colors to purple and gold. As you might also expect I noticed several individual players that appeared not to be wearing the armbands, although I didn’t see any make it into the news for not doing so.
- Australia: New shirts for Brisbane Roar and Newcastle Jets.
- England: The Women’s Super League has a new captain’s armband design.
- Germany: The Frauen-Bundesliga has a new ball design.
- Germany: New shirts for Eintracht Frankfurt’s women’s team.
- Germany: Turbine Potsdam’s new first shirt for this season has a small message saying “Impfen rettet Leben” (“Vaccination saves lives”) below its ad for a health insurance fund.
- Scotland: Celtic’s men’s team wore their grey third shirt against St. Mirren’s black and white stripes yesterday, which is basically the least bad solution to that color clash. (From Ed Żelaski)

- Iowa’s field hockey team received 2021 Big Ten championship rings before Saturday’s football game.

Is it just me, or does Ohio State look good no matter what they wear?

the OSU uniforms are fine, but those BFBS and bloodclot sets are dreadful.
As an Ohio State alumnus, it’s you. The black uniforms are bad, and the all-scarlet we did last year were hideous.
And also, bring back the gray sleeve stripes.
I’ve been an OSU fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper in the late ‘80s. They’ve been continuously on a downhill aesthetic slide since the mid-2000s when they changed the shoulder stripes. Also, Nike doing Nike things for no reason, especially for Michigan games, has been frustrating.
I just noticed that the Bears are now showing orange (striped!) socks with their new orange helmet/jersey combo on their uniform schedule. I believe when they initially announced the uniform they were wearing their standard navy socks. Also, the Dallas reporter (Todd Archer) who usually reports the Cowboys navy jersey games said the Cowboys would be wearing navy at home vs. Chicago this year. Sounds like my Cowboys are going to give us another nice color vs. color game this year!
