Just So There’s No Confusion …

I know how it is sometimes. You’re in a hurry, your ride’s waiting, perhaps it’s just minutes to tee time. You start grabbing clothes. Whatever gets in your way, you wear. Does it match? No idea. Better than golfing naked, especially if you get to golf in this outfit. Classy.

Anyway, Anthony Kim wants to make sure the stuff you grab on your way out the door isn’t his. He could have gone garish, but instead chose subtle. Well, compared to this, at least.   — Bryan

I know it’s been said here before, but those Powder Blue Toronto throwbacks sure look great (especially compared to their usual eyesores).

Those things should not be worn at home, though.

Saturday advantage – Europe. US combo looks dated, Euro is contemporary. Like the Euro shorts especially.

Sorry – disagree on the argyle. And white belts are a fashion statement I will never make. Especially bad with the blingy trucker buckle.

You reread before posting and it all reads fine. Then you see it posted and “what the ??? “Meant “shirts” not “shorts” in last post.

Newcastle vs. West Ham (English Premier League for those who don’t know)…

As mentioned before, West Ham’s jersey sponsor went bankrupt and couldn’t pay their fees the other week, so last week, West Ham went sponsorless, covering up the logo with the color on the jersey (which is officially called claret, but looks like a shade of maroon). This week, they’re going with a white rectangle with the player’s number to cover up the jersey sponsor.

    It looks bad.

It makes me wonder why Umbro (the jersey manufacturer for West Ham) can’t quickly make 60 jerseys or so without a sponsor.

Also, I’m having issues with trying to purchase a West Ham jersey from their official website (which could just be me, but I wonder if it’s because they don’t know what to do at the moment).

Anthony here is the story off the West Ham website and the problem they are having for sponsorship/charity work.

    Thanks, Jeremy.

I’m just saying that the number on the front could be done a lot better than a white square with a black number in a generic font. That’s all. :)

I agree with you about today…of course I also liked Team Euro shirts yesterday. Now if you could only buy those shirts somewhere.

Nice to see another die hard who gets up early for the footy matches.

However, I didn’t think West Ham looked THAT bad.

Watching the Bama at Arkansas game and I will go out on a limb here and say that the Hogs jersey isnt that bad when the players have pads on. Granted the guys with last names longer than 4 or 5 letter have their nameplate go over the apron strings but its not as bad as it looked on Paul’s article.

The Buffalo Sabres unveiled their third jersey today. It looks very familiar, essentially their old road uniform from the Sabre-and-crossed-sword days, only with the new colours.

Is Bryan being sarcastic again? I can’t tell with this one. I do like the white belt-big belt buckle combo. The shirts remind me a little of early 80’s Ivan Lendl.

Hmmm… I was just thinking that the white belt and white shoes actually made that boring outfit work today! Kim’s belt buckle says USA today, still lots of bling!

Anyone else notice that the purple sides on East Carolina’s away jersey’s doesn’t match the stripe on their pants? The jersey has purple, while the pants have purple and gold.

Yeah, little things like that do irritate me, lol.

    See: link

Arizona Wildcats wearing red pants with the white jerseys and blue helmets. As announcer Barry Tompkins put it, “bringing the red pants out of mothballs for the first time in 20 years. Maybe we’ll see Chuck Cecil and Tedy Bruschi out on the field today.”

If you don’t like the US clothing choices, blame the captain.

No pic, but Tennesee’s uniforms have white lettering on the nameplate. didn’t they start the season with black???

Ugh. Tim McCarver’s droning on about how good it is to see the Budweiser ad on the rooftop across from Wrigley field because “it’s been tarped for the last two months.”

    A) No, Tim, it’s been tarped for about a week.
    B) He prefaced his comment by saying that it wasn’t a promo for Budeweiser even though they’ve been sponsoring baseball on Fox for years along with many other sporting events. Nope, not a promo at all.

The Sabres’ jersey’s are great other than the awful and point armpit crap. Why the random corsett piping and why the grey pit stain? I understand contemporary style sometimes strays into the abstract but do we really need to add elements like that?

The Ducks are sucking big time today… I blame the yellow helmet. Ban that thing!

I found this word mark on a blog on the Oregon Ducks baseball page:

I hope they slap that on the front of a gray road jersey.

Anyone else notice that all the refs in the college games today have what looks like adidas logos on the sides of their hats? I’ve seen it in both a Pac-10 game and in an ACC game, so it can’t be a conference thing . . . haven’t noticed it before this week though.

Yeah, they don’t look so bad. I actually prefer to watch the Razorbacks with the white pants as opposed to the atrocity it was in the first game when they wore red pants. They haven’t played on the road yet, so I’m interested to see how those look.
However, if they played a little better, it would make it easier to watch. I digress.
Watching the Cubs game at the moment and I heard the comment made by McCarver. That proves my point that Timmy should do a little more homework before he speaks.

Or, in a perfect world, just stop speaking altogether.

    Uggggh sabres…
darkening uniforms is so 1997, why is it still happening. Royal blue is so much aesthetically appealing Vertical piping on a hockey sweater still should be a nono. What’s this silver armpit thing?? It’s amazing they can make that logo that oversized with those superfluous shoulder numbers. My biggest peeve is that the pants don’t have vertical striping. I always LOVED the vertical striping on those old sabres uniforms. At least it doesnt have a slug on it.

    YEEEEEEEEEEEECH. I agree.

i can’t tell if the sabres thirds have those great old blue socks with multiple thin stripes. I always liked how they had more than the typical 3 stripe design.

Speaking of adidas, they are now back in the racquet business. They made wood frames in the 70’s and composite’s in the 80’s but then dropped out. Their wood “Nastase Competition” I tried desperately to find, but never could. No internet back then, y’see.

I could probably live with the darkened blue, but no, the piping must go.

Argyle is a classic! With all the other potential garbage… when it comes to golf, you gotta love argyle!

It looks like the league-wide template used on practice jerseys.

That Southern Miss uni looks like a jersey the “bad guys” would wear in a cheesy “made for TV” football-themed movie. Awful.

    black pants actually

Many Rays were wearing 9=8 (a year-long team motto stating 9 players together will make you a post-season team) shirts and caps for clinching post-season. Actually, it’s not a bad concept since things like Wild Card Champions seems a little lame and God forbid there isn’t some kind of commemorative for every accomplishment.

Only problem I see with 9=8 is that the Rays are an American League team.

Don’t backtalk angry Duck fans. It’s a green shade of black.

The Longhorns’ unis look especially sweet this year–their nameplates are really well-integrated into the jersey. They’re also mesh nameplates to match the jersey.

just after halftime in the LSU-Auburn game the cameras panned the crowd and there was some serious under armour body paint logo creep (couldn’t get a picture/screen grab)

I agree. The piping ruins it. Piping,of any kind, does not belong on hockey or football jerseys IMO.

Casey Dick might be the worst starting quarterback in all of college football. He threw a pick and the closest Razorback was Bobby Petrino. Kinda surprised Bobby didn’t bolt yet.

holy shit those sabres’ sweaters are fuckin’ abysmal. what the hell is the deal with the piping AND the grey pit-stain? the numbers on the front basically make this the worst sweater in the NHL (before the 3rd sweater of Tampa and Ottawa are officially unveiled).

OK – the outfit is bad but more importantly who is the stunning blond woman sporting the big white sunglasses in the center of the photo?

ARGH! my eyes! my eyes!! CBS sports just did a cut away to show a highlight from the Broncos-Saints game. Broncos wearing some really really bad orange unis…

Pretty sure that\’s Amy Mickelson. The best part of Phil winning is when she shows up on 18 to congratulate him.
