Very odd scene last night in Phoenix, as the Suns wore their orange alts, which are technically a road uni, so the Lakers wore their home yellows, resulting in a confusingly citrus-themed affair (additional pics here, here, here, and here). Even more oddly, the Suns’ orange/gray color scheme showed up on the opposing coach’s necktie. — Paul

is the colored uni at home thing catching on in the NBA? charlotte was also wearing a road uni against the bucks last night.

Not a big fan of the “SUNS” on the waist band of the shorts. I think it is look big and makes the jersey look too busy.
I am a fan of the orange unis with the gray, even though it has some problems. Look at how the piping tapers up in the photo of Raja Bell. It makes him look like he is wearing some sort of strange tank top with a sleeveless t-shirt underneath.

Busy jersey, hell- it makes them look like they’re wearing redneck belt buckles. Yet another dumb, unnecessary gewgaw to stick on today’s uniform. Better than putting it on their ass, I guess.

The Pacers debuted their new yellow alts last night.

Miami wore their white jerseys, so it looks like they will primarily be road alts.

said it in last nights comments, but i’ll reiterate here…NOT a fan of the suns orange unis with the gray piping…i DO like the orange and the big PHX, tho…that’s fine…just lose teh gray

not uni related but noteworthy: a-rod will announce his new team during the halftime show of the super bowl

I’ve never liked the Orange Crush Suns alts. Just…too….something. Can’t really put my finger on it.

But, on an unrelated by still NBA-centric note, I really do like the new Hawks unis. Yeah, they’re kinda “safe.” But, in a world populated by the Nike Kool Aid and the horrors of Oregon football, they’re a nice addition.

Speaking of Oregon…anyone wanna place bets on which horrific combo they’ll bust out in todays epic clash with Arizona State?

Did I just say “EPIC CLASH” in regards to an Oregon/Arizona St. football game?? Yeah…I did. And it feels really weird.

And finally, speaking of that game, I really like Arizona St’s uni for some reason. I can’t really explain why, but I do.

if gameday is any indication, the ducks will sport the green helmet with the big O…to my knowledge, they still haven’t broken out the yellow lid, although it is a part of their combo-scheme…so perhaps espn is on to something, at least helmetwise

speaking of gameday, some GREAT placards being held up behind the boys, including, but not limited to a marriage proposal for erin andrews and references to player sobriety

    heh

Erin Andrews marriagte proposals are nothing new…now, if a PORNOGRAPHIC sign directed at the lovely Erin made it’s way onto the air THAT would be a gut busting moment (for me at least…but, then again, i’m fucked in the head)

Oregon with Yellow helmets? Good god…I have no problem with Nike for the most part (they did, ya know, give the world the Air Jordan shoe afterall..and for that i’m eternally happy) but the Oregon stuff.

From yesterday’s ticker: Joe Girardi will wear No. 27 with the Yankees, to symbolize the team’s quest for a 27th championship.
Personally I hope Girardi never has to worry about this, but I wonder, if the Evil Empire wins a 27th championship will he then change his uni number to 28?
For full disclosure I am a Padres fan and a Yankee hater.

I think that just by your nake alone we could tell of your hatred of the Yankees:

Probably not, because that’s Melky’s number.
Tony LaRussa took #10 with the Cardinals to symbolize their pursuit of WS #10, and they got that in 2006, yet LaRussa never went up to #11.

It’s the gray piping that is a problem for me. Not only is gray a boring color, but there is not enough contrast in tone between the orange and the gray. Just not a good look.

…forgot to mention that there is a flame on their yellow helmet outlined in silver. better pic of that here.

I just want to say that I really like the Cardinal-on-gold home look for Iowa State, should look even better next year with the new unis.

UCLA Basketball played their first exhibition game of the season yesterday, and we wore our “redesigned” gold ‘C’ link. You can see in the gallery that they just added a blue outline that many people here suggested. I was at the game and it didn’t look terrible.

While it certainly is unique, I wish they would have stuck to a patch and not change our classic look. It’ll be interesting to see what our road uniforms will look like.

I think the best response we could give is the one that took place. Everyone ignored the insensitive remarks of the post thus not giving the poster any recognition that they so much wanted.

Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Ben Mauk is wearing those custom eye-black strips that were posted a few weeks ago with the UC logo, but he’s only wearing one under his right eye, not his left. He definatley only had one on during warmups, too.

I didn’t realize the NCAA switched to an adidas ball. Or is that a league-by-league contract? When did the change happen?

(Actually, as I was typing I found a picture of a Texas exhibition game and they are using a Nike ball.)

I think teams choose their own ball suppliers, be it football, basketball, volleyball, etc. As long as they conform to NCAA standards, you can use whatever ball you want in the regular season. Each conference will have their own balls for conference tournaments, then the NCAA will have their own balls for their tournaments.

Ok, so a few months ago I found a Portugal t-shirt at my local Dick’s here in Missouri, which is kind of a big deal because there are probably like 5 Portuguese people in the Midwest lol

Yesterday I was wearing the shirt and something seemed off. And I look carefully and I see there’s a typo on my shirt! In portuguese, federation is written federação, but on the shirt it’s written federãçao. I went to the nike store site and the image they have has the typo

    link

So in reality it’s a little thing, and not that significant, but it’s gonna bug me everytime I wear it now.

But it’s not like I can blame the poor low-wage worker who made it, it’s not his/her fault, they’re just trying to put food on the table.

Anyway, let’s enjoy a laugh at nike.

Many of those Whoreloween costumes have 69 in them somewhere. The ump or baseball costume is #69, the police officer is badge #69, etc.

On an unrelated note, the Wisconsin Badgers have the Red Sox-esque upside down #8’s on their football jerseys. Haven’t yet found a good picture, but the top space is noticeably larger than the bottom.

yeah, that’s really bad taste, no doubt.

It’s not Uni-Related but worth mentioning. Two enormous streaks ended today.
Kansas beat Nebraska for the first time in 36 years.
And Navy beat Notre Dame for the first time in 43.

Oregon might look brighter, but the stands are full of the exact same neon color and this link looks closer to what we’re seeing today.

I think its just the contrast against the black. The pants seem to match the numbers pretty closely, and I’m fairly certain that those havent changed.

Also, it depends on what channel you’re watching. Here in Oregon we have the choice of FSN or CSN (Comcast SportsNet) and FSN’s white balance or hue seems to be off in comparison to CSN. Don’t know what ESPN looks like since that is blacked out here and we’re getting Rutgers\UConn instead.

    Shut up :)

I feel a little bad for the league and Reebok here, because what the Globe reporter implied – i.e., that the new jerseys were being abandoned altogether – turned out to be inaccurate. On the other hand, it’s hard to feel too much sympathy for people who’ve so much to screw up a once-glorious sport. …

Just saw this. Gary Bettman Sucks. There is a God.

That’s all you hear about here in Nebraska — how Callahan needs to be fired and people selling “Restore the Order” T-Shirts after Tom Osborne was hired as AD. It’s enough to make you puke…but then again, you remember that KU hung 76 on them and all is good.

Maybe I noticed this WAY later than everyone else, but Airzona State had “PT 42” on their jersey collars today. That can’t be new, right?

Aside from the Oregon player’s pants being transparent, it appears as if he has been impaled on the cheerleader’s megaphone.

Not sure if these have already been mentioned but these teams have new duds for next season courtesey of Nike:

    UCONN
    OKLAHOMA
    TEXAS
    FLORIDA ST
    MARYLAND
    WASHINGTON

I can’t find a photo anywhere, but towards the end of the OU/Texas AM game there was a kick off where one of the A&M players came running on the field with a ripped up jersey. All the ABC guy said was “they needed a single number out there.” I think he means that there was already the number he was wearing out there so he had to put on something with a different number.

    It was an odd situation.

The Islanders also wore white in Uniondale today, and the Stars wore white in Dallas on Friday.

Those weird pear-colored helmets ca. 2007 Las Vegas Bowl are different from the ones in the model picture (sans Green logo in action). I was at Autzen today for UO-ASU. I didn’t think the Ducks looked terrible, just…weird. The Green + Black + Yellow was a little disconcerting but both teams looked awesome once the sun went down and the lights came on. Is there anything better than college football at night
